Pulaski's Trajen Johnson (6'2"/185/4.5 40/29 ACT/4.1 GPA) just received his 3rd offer from Harvard.
https://twitter.com/trajenjohnson/status/845305218732560385

Other offers are Penn and Army. He is also being recruited by Alabama, Miss State, UNC, Texas, FSU, Oklahoma State, Louisville, Arizona State, Kansas, Dartmouth, Columbia, Princeton, Yale, others.

Reminder that Trajen is not one of the 3-4 kids mentioned when the local experts talk about potential SEC signees for the in-state class of 2018, which is a shame - because he's definitely an SEC-caliber prospect. Junior film is below so you can form your own assessment.

Wow Harvard offer eh? Congrats to the young man! If I understand correctly they don't do football scholarships, but I would gladly take student loans to attend the best university in the country. Graduate and can write your own paycheck. Wow wow.

You don't know SEC talent and seem to over evaluate... I'm all for Arkansas kids playing for the Hogs and would rather a chance on an in-state guy over an out of state that may have a few more offers, but you're delusional.

Shush.......He's posting these on a message board, of course he knows what he's talking about.

Eight P5 schools, including two in the SEC, are actively recruiting him but I'm "delusional" for suggesting that he could work his way into an SEC offer? Got it.

Okay they are actively recruiting him along with 500 other kids. Hell when I was in high school I got "actively recruited" by OSU because I went to a camp in Texas. I didn't even start on my team. There's a long journey from "actively recruiting" and being offered by a Power 5 and in this case an SEC school.

2018 ATH Nathan Page and ILB Oliver Nasilai showed out at the Under Armour Dallas Camp over the weekend.

Oliver Nasilai, 2018 ILB, Springdale (Ark.) Har-Ber

Nasilai is a physical inside/middle linebacker prospect who packs a punch at the point of attack and shows the ability to fly sideline to sideline, especially against the run. Nasilai's only offer so far is BYU. Expect that to change this spring. He's one of the top defensive prospects in Arkansas for 2018.

Nathan Page, 2018 WR, Little Rock (Ark.) Robinson

Three FBS programs have offered Page, but he surprisingly has not yet picked up a Power Five conference offer. That should change this spring. Page has gotten attention on both sides of the ball and could play receiver or defensive back in college, though we like him best with the ball in his hands, where he can be electric as a pass-catcher or return man. Page is one of the best players in Arkansas regardless of position.

I believe the chatter on the interwebs is that Nathan needs to pull his grades up before an offered is discussed.

2018 will probably be another year the Hogs extend 4 or 5 in-state offers. The number could go up during camp season in June. The 2019 class will probably be the one that could go beyond the 4-5 in-state offers.

They're almost there already (3) and it's only March. If Nathan Page was qualified right now he'd have an offer. Several others can definitely play or camp their way there.

This thread is more about 2018 in-state players with SEC talent who will likely get at least 1 SEC offer than about players who will get Arkansas offers. The Hogs are going to be signing their smallest class ever under CBB so the numbers will be down regardless of the in-state talent pool. That's a big reason why the Hogs' 2019 class will have more in-state players.

Once you get past the top-end talent in 2019, it's no different than any class the state ever has, which is to say that many kids will go under evaluated/under recruited and at least 4-6 others with top-end talent will not be eligible for bigger offers. That said, I still maintain that by the time signing day rolls around next February, 12-15 kids in the 2018 class will have at least 1 SEC offer.

Page's biggest problem to me is how much he slows down when he changes direction.

His speed is solid, though nowhere near the listed 4.48, probably in the 4.6 range or so. Can play vertically and isn't afraid of contact. Route running wasn't very complex in the hudl video so he'll probably need some time to work on that. Good size.

I'd say he can play at the FBS level, but skeptical of any major p5 schools offering him. Namely due to how much he has to slow down change directions.

Contrast his tape with Warren and Barnes that we signed this year. Particularly Warren since he had his numbers timed electronically at the sparq.

As for being a top nike performer...

He is a walk-on at Arkansas. His only scholarship offers included Air Force and Cambell, which I can only assume is a soup college. He was "actively" recruited by Oregon, but never was given an offer from them.

Is following in state prospects part of your job, or just a big hobby of yours?

A little of both. I'm just trying to help change the tired narratives regarding in-state recruiting. A little realism, backed by facts, to counter the constant emotionally-driven pessimism.

The facts remain, there are limited SEC "offered" athletes in the state, hard to change that.

Agreed.

Whether a kid plays for the hogs or not, I always hope they do well except for 2 circumstances. One, they are playing the hogs that week. 2, I know that they are not a good person.

Nate's got the skills.  Saw video of him take Justin Broiles to school.  He has the ACT score, he just has to pick up grades that he's quite capable of making.

Hollywood870

Thanks for the thread. I hope Arkansas does there due diligence on these kids. You may find a couple under the radar and they would be more likely to commit.

I remember when this kid was about 2'4", his older Brother and my son played baseball together for years in Morrilton when his dad was coaching there. His brother was a pretty good QB, when Trey was younger I would have swore he was going to be a big OL player, he was just one of those kids that was more physically mature than everyone else in his age range. I wasn't sure Mason would grow that big, he was kind of scrawny LOL.

Why are we not going after Gerry Bohanon hard I don't get it? We are the only school who has not offered him as a QB, which is what he wants to play.

I know we have Connor Noland coming, and Beliema has the one QB a year rule. Let these kids compete for the job, that's sports. Every rule has an exception, and we should make an exception for two highly talented in state kids. Not to mention keepinng Gerry and Connor from other SEc schools, don't want to watch him rip us up at Auburn/MSU. Kid has talent.

I think we have already lost the him regardless because of soft approach, plenty of articles talking about it, too bad.

I'm very happy otherwise with 2018 recruitment.

Limited numbers this year, we need other positions where you play more than one guy. You got a kid committed that is doing as much as possible in helping your recruiting for this class, why would you go back on your word to him?
