Okay....now that that's over, I'm still fearful of these last 2 games, and it has nothing to do with any issues the Hogs had against KY.  It's just that not only is the SEC better even near the bottom than it has been, but both SC and LSU had good confidence building games today, and the Hogs are just as capable of losing those as they would haven been if they had beaten KY.  So....let's say the Hogs lose the remaining 2....what needs to happen to hang on to that 2 seed in the SECT? I know I could figure it out but....just don't want to.

ErieHog

If Arkansas wins another conference game in the last 2,  we have the 2nd seed;  if we split, we end with the same record in conference as A&M, but own the head to head tie breaker.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Lsu, Georgia, and ole miss all have 6 losses, so if we lose both games we could be in real trouble. But to answer your question, I have no idea what seed we would be...3rd, 4th, 5th?

With our win over A&M we became a lock for a top 4 seed. The worst we can get is a 4 seed.

Not sure why anyone is worried, though. We just won 7 straight. Do you guys honestly think we will not be able to win at least 1 of the next 2?

End of season collapses have been the norm for Razorback basketball since Pel's 2nd season.  Tough to overcome that fear prior to actually seeing that there really is nothing to fear.  Beat South Carolina in a few days and all is well.

We could sit and win it out right, too.

That win over A&M was huge.

What issues has Ky had? I think he's played very well of late.

He had a pretty good game against UK, too.

The South Carolina game could be trouble. Most people don't appreciate it but the Gamecocks are better than their record, they play well at home, and Frank Martin is a good coach ... Winning any game on the road, but winning after losing to No. 1 in a game that received lots of deserved hype will be a tough task ....

They are better than their record and it's not a gimme.

But we're still quite a bit better.

Unless the Hogs fall completely apart (which isn't likely to happen), they should win in Columbia.

Is South Carolina still playing with an extremely short bench?

jgphillips3

Let's win in Columbia, get that bad taste out of our mouth and give LSU nothing to play for when they roll into town.  SC is still short some players so we should be able to wear them out.

That's assuming A&M wins out.  They're 11-5 right now.

we should line up with our best 8 players and run them out of their own gym...I think the boys come out with fire in their eyes with memories from the great collapse of 2014 and will beat both USCjr and LSU...if we really are back, that's what the Hogs of old would do...and if we can't do that, we don't deserve the #2 seed

Its worst case scenario;  short of losing both our remaining games *and* other things breaking against us, we're the #2.

All it would take is us going 0-2 and A&M going 2-0.  That would make them the #2.

Again.  That's the worst possible case scenario.  Anything short of that, and we're #2.

That's the way I feel.

We need the No. 2 seed and that one, on the road no less, would sew it up...!

I guess I don't see things that way at all.  If the Hogs do lose, it doesn't mean to me that they've have lost their mojo, or they are not the better team, or that they simply have a habit of late season collapse - that's especially bunk.  Losses against lesser teams just happen.  I see the Hogs as the second best overall team in the SEC in terms of energy and personnel, but I don't see us as having a guy that can shoot like Moody (who almost single handedly kept Ole Miss with UK) or House of ATM, or guys that can keep you in games where you're being outgunned.  Therefore, competition top to bottom is stiff enough, and  any victory is totally sweet, to me.  If they lose the last two and end up in 4th, then yes, even the line on paper will tell you they don't deserve 2nd.  But if they lose, and other key teams lose, the standings will say the Hogs are 2nd, and perhaps they wouldn't deserve it, but neither would others.
