I have a TN fan here screaming that Tenn is now the best available job. Does anyone know of any national media talking heads who may have commented on the subject or ranked them?
In CBP I trust !

He's screaming b/c he thinks the louder he says it the more true it will be. Just shake your head and laugh at him.

It used to be for women's basketball until UCONN took over.

That NCAA hammer hanging over their heads does not help them

I think their pockets may be a little deeper, but with looming NCAA troubles and our incoming recruiting class, Arkansas is definitely a more attractive job right now.

The Boar War

A job that follows the program's best coach who was wildly popular and was forced out by an AD who is on shakey ground.  Oh and the NCAA is camped out on your campus.  Doesn't seem like that good of a job.

jesterzzn

The only thing that made the Tennessee job better than the Arkansas job was Bruce Pearl was a better coach than Heath or Pelphrey.

Once Pearl was fired, Tenn went back to the fifth or sixth best overnight.

And just about every comment from the media I have seen has said something similar.

A lot easier to win in the SEC West than the SEC East, too.

Only true in the last five years or so.  Will probably only be true for another two or three.

Arkansas will be back next year.  Ole Miss and State are always right on the cusp.  Alabama is going to be good for years to come.  LSU is up and down.  Auburn wins every fourth year or so so they are due to be pretty good.

The East has Kentucky and Florida.  Vandy is on the cusp.  The rest are somewhere between LSU and Auburn in terms of their historic performance, and tenn is going to suffer for a bit.

nextlevel

Looming NCAA punishment/sanctions.

Losses of current players and signed recruits asking out of their LOIs...

Yeah, they've had more recent success...

I'll make a prediction: If BCG were to get the Tennessee job, Calipari will be fired from UK within 2 years because from the 2013-2014 season on, Tennessee will own the SEC East until BCG moves on or retires.

If MA is truly at Arkansas now, Oklahoma is the best open position. Considering every Espn expert is saying their sources are telling them Buzz is headed to Norman. If Tenn can hire a better coach than more power to them.

Missouri and NC State are probably better jobs, if MA leaves Mizzou. Facilities / commitment to basketball / talent level are questions at OU. Buzz has Oklahoma connections, Oklahoma has a heck of a lot of money, and a great AD willing to wait for the guy they think they can get. Buzz going to OU is a fit thing more than that being a better job than the other two places I mentioned.

Stallings is one heck of a coach, and you've got 2 of the 5 best recruiters in the country at UK and Florida. Sign me up for the West.

MSU is a question right now. Ole Miss is Ole Miss. I like Grant at Bama, and Mark Fox at UGA, but UGA's recruiting is tough. Auburn and LSU were by far the worst two teams in the SEC this year and Trent has looked in over his head at LSU.

jmalott86

Doug Gottlieb said Arkansas was the best available job in he country, yesterday on the Van Pelt show.

jesterzzn

The thing about LSU is that they can go from horrible to good to great in one class.  Their recruiting base is one of the best in the nation for basketball, even if you leave out east Texas.

greasy_corner

Check twitter, I'm sure you can find what you're looking for there.

BTW: Tennessee has denied requests for releases from LOI by the two recruits who asked...

The names on their "coaching list" are:

Lawrence Frank
Shaka Smart
Anthony Grant (lulz)
Chris Mooney
Rick Byrd

After they are dissed by Butler and Buzz, they will go for Shaka.

Mike Golic and Doug Gotlieb were on Mike and Mike this morning and they were talking to Dicky V. DV was saying that TN may have a tough time getting a good coach in their current state of affairs.
Sittin in the morning sun, I'll be sittin here when evening comes.

THIS^^^^^^^

Plus the fact that a few players are wanting out of their LOIs, not many coaches are standing in line for jobs at institutions facing possible NCAA sanctions.....and those won't even be known until May I believe.

pitbull1

Pat Summit will coach both men and women.... ;)

George S. Pigton

I noticed Katz or someone on ESPN tweet the rankings of open jobs a few days ago.

Arkansas, Oklahoma, Ga Tech, NC State, Tenn., Utah, and on down was the order.

I think they will have trouble filling that job, recent success does not push them into the
top 10-15 all time in history.

The problem you have at Tenn is what's going to happen to the athletic director.  If the NCAA lowers the hammer, he might be fired.  A coach is nervous about agreeing to work for a guy who may be fired.

Hey everybody wants to win, right.  Why not Bruce Pearl?  Word is he would walk to Ark. to get the Razorback job.  B4 anyone says I'm crazy, people over here in Georgia were saying some pretty bad stuff about BP B4 he came and it turned out alright.  Just thinkin out loud!

Bruce Pearl still had to face the Committee on Infractions, regardless of the fact that he's been ousted at Tenner.  He may not be allowed to coach anywhere next season.

Blutoblutarsky

Whichever program takes a chance on Pearl will have the NCAA barking up their skirt for a long time to come.  You could probably put Pearl in the same boat as Kelvin Sampson

Send him this link.  And this is after TN has had some damn good years recently and the Hogs have been as bad as we have ever been.  Hogs #13, TN #18.
