... to get a banner hung in BWA?

The reason I ask is I think the #1 thing that would bring Portis back is the possibility of becoming a Razorback legend. If I'm Mike and Jeff Long, I am selling him on the possibility of a banner in BWA. But, he would need to have a set of goals to accomplish to get it.

What would you say Bobby would need to do to get a banner in BWA?

The Harrison twins and WCS

I'd say it's a little higher, probably need to add Townes to that group to reach up high enough.

Back to back SEC player of the year should do it IMO.

A run to atleast the elite 8 would seal the deal IMO

I was thinking 2 SEC Player-of-the-Year awards would do it. But then I remembered Corliss and Moncrief are the only two 1st Team All-Americans we have ever had in basketball, I believe. Would it require him being 1st Team All-American as well?

I think at least an Elite 8 run would be necessary. The next player in line for a banner behind Corliss and Moncrief is Todd Day IMO. Portis would need to accomplish something Day didn't.

^This right here.  And If he returns next year everything is setup for him to make that achievement.  He's going to have the numbers stacked in his favor to repeat as SEC player of the year, with the media trying to sell stories, and all the hype that's going to be behind Arkansas if he returns.   Plus I think he would have a legit shot at winning national player of the year as well, he definitely be a shoe in for first team All-American.

sidney played in a final four, corliss won a nc & was runner up. think the team needs to get to a final four

Todd Day got to a Final Four, as well as an Elite 8. He is also the All-Time scoring leader. But he was never 1st Team All-American like those two. So that's why I'm wondering if that is truly the measure.

Super Hog

Hope BP gets his banner someday after a Final Four run next year and a nice NBA career.

Here's a problem, though: Ron Brewer, Todd Day and Ronnie Brewer all wore the same number. Which one of these guys should also get similar recognition? I'd say at least the first two.

He would need a banner and 2 ropes with some zip ties to hang to the rafter....

Or did you mean earn a banner in BWA
SEC!

I think if he helped take this team to the final four next season, that would probably do it.  He would be credited along with Mike for getting this program out of the dumpster.

Todd day is the all time leading scorer in Hog history. Took the team to a Final Four. He wore #10 also.

darn i think we should hang one for qualls already for his sick dunks and total embodiment of what it means to be a razorback.

Another SEC POTY, another All-American type year, and a minimum of a Sweet 16 berth.  It'd help tremendously, if he had more-  a Final Four berth would be the beginning of a 'comfort zone' for it.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Back-to-back SEC POTY and 1st team AA plus Final Four; or

Lead us to a National Championship.

Either of two options would do it.

If he decided to return for his junior AND senior seasons and led us to a couple of elite 8's or a Sweet 18 and Final 4, I think there'd be very strong consideration.

Maybe it's time to recognize the number then ...

I'd agree with the first part and say it wouldn't truly matter if he never made it past the sweet 16, or even to it. With back to back SEC POY awards and a first team AA to his credit, I'd say that alone is deserving enough. It'd be especially significant when putting into context all of the players (mostly from UK) he beat out to earn that award this season.

youre talking about retiring someones jersey, forever.

hes going to need AA, SEC POY, a national championship run, and a successful NBA career to deserve one.

What does an NBA career have to do with retiring someone's jersey in college?

All except successful NBA career.

That's not relevant.
