how in the f*ck am I supposed to record the game on ESPN if they start the game on another network because two arena football teams like Baylor and TT can't play defense?
If you never streaked down Sorority Row, caught the Bud Man twice in one night, or threw a pitcher of beer under the table when ABC came into the Hog Trough . . . you're just a wannabe.

They, meaning the networks, are going to start needing to slot the games for 4 hours. I don't mind watching 4 hour games but when they start running over into other games by a wide margin then that is a problem.

Well, for one, the Hog game is on ESPN2. I'm sorry...but seriously... are you just now realizing that games normally run longer than the original allotted time slot? It happens every Saturday.
Just the way it is.

Is it not possible they could tell you up front which Network would pick up the start of the game?  This the third game I think that it's happened this year.  At least then I could record both channels. Duh.

Not really, no;   look at it this way--  say they have 4 networks, with two alternates, that are schedueld to broadcast games.      Some of those early games might end nearly on time, or require only a few minute delay in scheduled kickoffs;   there is absolutely no way to know which ones will be significantly over, before the first games start.    That will dictate what gets pushed to where, kickoff wise.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

So now I have to get three more Verizon boxes with DVR's?  I'm going to have to buy a sh*t load of TJMaxx gift cards to get that done . . .

Nah.  Just accept that if you want a full recording, that can be reliably scheduled, you'll need to hit whatever time they have slotted for the late rebroadcast.

SI had an article this week about this subject.  ESPN has a whole department dedicated to this on Saturdays.  When games run long or are delayed by weather or injury; this department begins coordinating with Master Control of each ESPN Network as well as the conferences involved.  They have to work it where most people possible can see the beginning of a game as well as stay within the contracts ESPN has with each conference.  For instance, SEC games cannot be on ABC; I think there is a limit to how many Big Ten games each season can go to ESPNU and I'm not sure, but it seems like P12 & B12 don't allow games on ESPNU.  It's not just the game upcoming on a particular channel that is affected, but all of the Disney channels that have games on.
