Me.  I promise to at least get fired up.  I also promise to jump the refs a$$$es repeatedly and as often as needed.  I will get tossed if it will fire my players up.  I will play whomever gives us the best shot.  I promise not to intentionally put a poor free throw shooter at the line in crunch time.  If one of my guys screws the pooch and fouls on a final 20 second desperation 3 point attempts, I swear to you he will not see the floor again that game maybe the next as well.  He for sure will not start the next.  After having said all of this, I will take the position and hire some damn good asst. coaches to help teach fundamentals so that I can focus on recruiting and PASSION for OUR BELOVED HOGS!

And all for much less than we pay stan

Just because the Crash Test Dummies were good at hitting a brick wall didn't mean they were good drivers.

HOUSTON NUTT!

FRANK HERE'S AN IDEA: This basketball season is over anyway, let Nutt and Heath trade now so then we will have a chance in Football since the HC there isn't going to have any responsibilities anyway. Plus we will get more close-ups of Nutt on the sidelines......what entertainment for the fans!!!

Then we will be BACK BABY!!!!!!
This won't work.......Heath doesn't know the fight song!!!    Oh well, it doesn't matter, you have to win to sing!!!

HogKong

no..no.....no.....I change my mind!  How about Balki Bartokomous from Perfect Strangers. I hear he is a great recruiter!

TwistedHog

We still have to give Heath the rest of this season, it's not like we are losing anybody worth a damn at the end of the year.  I mean I like what Ferguson and Modica have done but they are easily replaceable.  But next year I'm down with:

Mark Few - Gonzaga
Jim O'Brien - Former NBA Head Coach

If you guys don't want to hire me that is ok.  My little sister is looking for work.  Of course we will have to wait until may when she graduates High School, but I bet she could get the guys more fired up

Thad Motta from Ohio St is not going anywhere. He has the number one recruiting class in the country coming next year.  Plus Ohio St to Arkansas is not a step up.  Lorenzo romar is a west coast guy and is not going anywhere.   I think you have to set your sights on another mid-major guy.  We don't want Huggins, he's a walking time bomb.  Possibly jamie Dixon from Pitt as we could probably pay him more.

Just what "kind of coach" do you percieve Steve Alford to be? Pierce is a troubled young man who was given a second chance, not only by coach Alford but also by the University of Iowa. He was suspended for an entire season for his first offense and was told that if any other incidents were to ocurr he would be dismissed for the team and the university. He got involved in that incident in West Des Moines and was immediately dismissed from the team by Alford. Alford and the university were willing to give Pierce a second chance and he blew it. I don't feel sorry for the kid because he makes his own decisions. He let down Steve Alford, Bob Bowlsby, the University of Iowa and its fans.

Alford does not have a history of having or supporting delinquent players. He has had some kids transfer out of the program and had one kid quit the team a few years back but it is not as if he has a bunch of Pierre Pierce's on the Hawkeye's roster. (as WindyCityHog apparently wants you to believe) Pierce was given one chance to rectify his behavior and he did not and now he is paying for it and Alford, the university and it's fans have moved on.

The Pierre Pierce situation is unique unto itself in regards to Alford and his history with players, don't judge him on one decision.

Alford is still a young coach (believe it or not) and he is learning from good and bad decisions he has made.

He's a better coach than Stan Heath. Heath should call Alford and Bobby Knight if he wants Arkansas to run the motion offense.

WindyCityHog

No disrespect Hawkeye....

...but Alford HAD to know what kind of person Pierce was....that sort of thing just doesn't materialize.  Witness his actions after his dismissal.

I always liked Alford....but I have a problem with a coach who falls to "win at all cost".

My .02.

...and that isn't intended to be an indictment on Iowa.  Just Alford.

WindyCityHog,

You are right, the signs regarding Pierce being troubled had to be there long before Iowa and other schools started recruiting him. Alford obviously took a chance and he got burned. Many Iowa fans wanted Pierce permanently dismissed after the first incident happened and Alford went against public sentiment and allowed Pierece back. I for one felt that if Pierce was let go by Iowa he would end up in some back circumstances so I was supportive of Alford allowing him back initially. I was hoping Pierre had learned his lesson but as we see he has not.

Pierre wanted out of jail to attend NBA draft camps...lol.

I got upset because if you know Alford's history with his players (I lived in Southwest Missouri when he was at SMSU) so I have followed Alfored for YEARS now and he has never had a situation like Pierre Pierce before, my point was, just because a man makes one bad decision does not mean he always makes bad decisions and he should be treated fairly when judging him but I understand your points.

Lorenzo Romar from the Univ. of Washington, hell of a coach, and good recruiter. No way Mark Few leaves Gonzaga for the Hogs, they way I understand it, he has turned down more than a few big jobs because he and his family are from that area of the country, besides right now Gonzaga is where the Hogs wished they were.

My Top Five

1.  Mark Turgeon, Wichita State
2.  Darrin Horn, Western Kentucky
3.  Dana Altman, Creighton
4.  Mick Cronin, Murray State
5.  Barry Hinson, Missouri State

Arkansas does not hire name coaches.  Count on a mid-major coach for next year.  Plus, we've done okay with the basketball mid-major coaches other than Heath.  We got this one coach from Creighton in 1974 and another from Tulsa in 1985 and I think they turned out okay.  If this is just a wish list, though, I'd wouldn't mind having Mike Anderson back.   :'(

Haha, you guys are settling for mediocrity...Why do you want another UP AND COMER?!?! This is the 8th best basketball program of all time, it will be terrible it we hire another mid-major coach.

Many will be interested and if Frank isn't busy getting bossed around by Lindsey and his new wife he'll get a winner.

BAT
I promise his new wife is not bossing him around..........

1. Offer Rick Pitino some serious Wal-Mart, Tyson, Hunt cash and the program will be back in a hurry. JFB, you cheap-ass, you know this would happen if you had the cojones.
2. Rick Majerus - Health a concern, but the guy is a helluva coach and would get us going again fast.
3. Tubby Smith - If Kentucky makes a mistake and lets him go.
4. Billy Gillespie - I am impressed with what this guy is doing.
5. Notes Richardson or Dickey Nutt - (Comic Relief choices)
Freedom is never free.

Majerus... but we'd have to build a Pizza Hut in Hogville's tailgate spot!  ;D

I would do it to get Majerus to take over this train wreck.

How about a used Nutt?  You guys could have a matching set with a spare on the sidelines.

Barry Hinson is a good coach but I am not sure he would cut it at a place like Arkansas. He seems to be a good fit at the mid-major level. I don't think he could handle the heat and high pressure of a job in a major conference. He's kind of a politiician in his personality and he gets defensive when criticized. He was on the hot seat most of the time shortly after Steve Alford left and in my opinion he did not handle it well. The Missouri Valley Conference is a good place for a guy like Hinson.

I know he would love a shot at Steve Alford and the Iowa Hawkeyes but he probably isn't going to get it.

Greg McDermott (head coach at Northern Iowa) should be on these lists that people are putting together. The Panthers have been to two straight NCAA tournaments and he has his team this year at 16-3 with wins over Iowa (damn them) and LSU in Baton Rouge.
