The men's basketball team has been  picked fourth in the 2015-16 Sun Belt Conference (SBC) Coaches Preseason Poll, which was announced Wednesday (Oct. 21) by the league office (UALR is 5th).

The women's basketball team were picked first in the preseason poll the league office announced Tuesday(UALR was picked 3rd). Aundrea Gamble was picked as player of the year.

Their women's Volleyball team is 19-1 and ranked in the top 25 by some polls.

The women's bowling team is ranked 2nd nationally.

A-State leads the nation in interceptions with 15.

True freshman DL Dovonon Ransom (6-1, 320), is out for the year with a ACL. He has been one of the surprising number of true freshman to make major contributions to their much improved defense this year, and has been a solid fixture on their 2-deep from the start.  Sophomore Chuks Ota (6-2, 306), who had several starts as a true  looks to be his primary replacement.

Coaches say that ultra quick true freshman rb Warren Wand,( 5-5, 185lb), who has averaged 6.7 yp carry, and 10.3 yp catch, will continue to see his role increase going forward. Seems like every time he touches the ball he produces highlight reel material.
