Not in terms of performance as a Hog.    But he's undoubtedly the favorite Hog,  the most successful professional Hog, and the best regarded Hog.

Gee I wonder who signed him out of high school and coached him when nobody else in a major conference would.

P.S. Sidney also has his issues just like that coach. Yet he deserves the HOF. They both do.
If I'm going to cheer players and coaches in victory, I damn sure ought to be man enough to stand with them in defeat.

how about disparity in styles, might just skew the numbers could of been more lobsided.

That's why they have statistical adjustments for rebound rates--  the percentage of opportunities while on the floor,  to control for differences in pace and shooting accuracy between eras-- that is to say, if teams miss a bunch more shots in one era, or take a lot more shots in one era and miss a bunch more, their performance can be measured in terms of efficiency. They're much closer there than the raw numbers indicate.

The other thing that people love to trot out as a popular misnomer is that the Day era saw a ridiculously faster style of play.     They did play faster-- but not phenomenally so;  people overstate that slow down ball was the rule of thumb in the late 70s--  I've thoroughly dispelled that myth in prior discussions of Day-Moncreif.  Most of the raw differences come from longer seasons,  not from a radical difference in play.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Sidney got help.     Eddie got an excuse.

Guess who Sidney gives some credit to for his basketball career..............In other words he had help with that from someone you apparently hate.

I don't hate Eddie.  I hate the Cult of Eddie that we endlessly and needlessly perpetuate.

Hope he makes it.
If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

Sid would have crushed Todd Day all things being equal and I loved Todd.   Lock down defender , attitude, rebounding, scoring. Sid did whatever the team needed. Stats don't always tell the whole story.

Day & Sid are my 1a & 1b of fav Hogs. Tremendous talents.

Sid May not have thrown many punches but he carried a mean golf club.  Serious question though, with him owning a car lot in the state one would have thought he would have been more involved with the program post career.  Any ideas why he has not been?

Maybe someone else could have done what he did to kickstart Hog basketball but they didn't. He did. Giving a guy credit for being a good coach despite his faults is not a cult. Same for all coaches or any profession.
