I am starting a list of SEC game one starters, sorted by experience level. I am separating first-year juco transfers from juniors / sophomores. If a team lists more than 11 starters, they're all on there. If they list "or" starters, I'm going with the first one listed. Don't want to get too complex.

Auburn
Oline/TE - 3 seniors, 2 juniors, 0 juco transfers, 1 sophomore, 0 redshirt freshmen, 0 freshman
Skills - 1 senior, 0 juniors, 0 juco transfers, 4 sophomores, 1 redshirt freshman, 1 freshman

Dline - 1 senior, 1 junior, 0 juco transfers, 1 sophomores, 0 redshirt freshmen, 1 freshman
LBs - 0 seniors, 0 juniors, 0 juco transfers, 3 sophomores, 0 redshirt freshmen, 0 freshmen
DBs - 1 senior, 1 junior, 0 juco transfers, 1 sophomore, 1 redshirt freshman, 0 freshmen

Special teams - 3 seniors, 3 juniors, 0 juco transfers, 1 sophomore, 0 redshirt freshmen, 0 freshmen

Offense - 4 seniors, 2 juniors, 0 jucos, 5 sophomores, 1 redshirt freshman, 1 freshman

If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

That surprises me about MSU.  They may be as underrated as the Hogs look to be.

You and me both.

How good they are depends on how good their offense is. They have veterans at WR and RB, but who's the QB?

Damian Williams (6-1, 230 jr) started one game in 2013, redshirted last season due to injuries. He ran for the game-deciding score against Arkansas in OT in '13.

Nick Fitzgerald (6-5, 230 so) is supposed to be a good run-pass threat. He is listed as co-starter.

So is redshirt freshman Nick Tiano (6-4, 239), but Dan Mullin said this week that Williams and Fitzgerald are a little more ready to start game one. Mullin looks at Tiano as possibly another Tebow.

If anybody is going to give MSU the same kind of passing threat they had with Dak, it would be Fitzgerald.

Mullin always gets great athletes to play quarterback. And Arkansas goes to Starkville the week after the LSU game. Never a great position on the schedule.

Except for Auburn, Arkansas's schedule is loaded with opponents that have plenty of veterans on defense. Almost feel sorry for the War Eagle people.

No. Not really.

For comparison...

TCU
Oline/TE - 1 senior, 5 juniors
Skills - 0 seniors, 5 juniors, 1 sophomore

Dline - 3 seniors, 1 sophomore
LBs - 1 junior, 1 sophomore
DBs - 1 senior, 2 juniors, 1 sophomore, 1 redshirt freshman

Special teams - 4 juniors, 1 sophomore, 3 redshirt freshmen

Offense - 1 senior, 10 juniors, 0 juco transfers, 1 sophomore, 0 redshirt freshmen, 0 freshmen
Defense - 4 seniors, 3 juniors, 0 juco transfers, 3 sophomores, 1 redshirt freshmen, 0 freshmen

Eighteen juniors and seniors in the starting lineup is a big number, but two of them are transfers (QB and TE). Their starting kicker is out with an injury.

They may feel as comfortable with their QB as we do AA.  They really may be a dark horse in the league.  Logic tells me that Bama will drop a few notches because of their lack of experience but logic also tells me...Bama.  Hard to know where they end up.  LSU has a lot of returning experience but they still don't have an offense.

Thinking logically, Mississippi State was running along at 7-8 wins per season until Dak Prescott became the starting quarterback. The guys they have now are back to their previous standard. That might cap MSU's upside potential.

If you focus on junior and senior starters, LSU, Mississippi State and Texas A&M have the most veteran starters, and Ole Miss and Arkansas are not far behind.

Florida and Missouri are a bit behind, Alabama further, and Auburn far behind everybody.

Arkansas and MSU are the only SEC teams that don't have major differences in experience levels between offense and defense. Both also have new starting QBs. I'd say that Arkansas's starter was an obvious starter-in-waiting for two years, while MSU's situation is less of a plug-in.

This is true.  By the time we get to MSU their QB will have almost a year's experience we'll know what they actually have.  I don't disagree with your point; I think it bears watching.  Did we know about Dak before he showed up in the games?  Maybe we did but I don't recall his name prior to him playing.  How many times can you catch lightning in a bottle though.
