Good to hear Richard. This is a no brainer. Experience on the OL is exactly what we need.

for those nay sayers, what can you lose from getting a center who has game experience... if nothing else a solid backup or hopefully can fill the center position allowing ragnow to go back to guard where we have little experience... or maybe guard himself....was highly rated out of HS and has played on the D1 level...

I agree completely.  Just was trying to dampen the expectations for the kid.
Let us then turn this government back into the channel in which the framers of the Constitution originally placed it.  Abraham Lincoln, 1858

Nice addition to an area that needed depth. Hopefully he can come in and play right away if needed.

Feeling better about our line.  We needed depth badly.

Now that he has committed I would like to suggest not to rewatch the game he started at RT in the bowl game against us.

His blocking was fine. Especially considering he is undersized at that position. But he was replaced in the first half after his second false start.

Luckily for us, none of our current players have ever been penalized

Just a suggestion.

I'm am and have been a big proponent of Raulerson in this thread. I'm super excited about him being Hog.

JayBell

I have no idea what his overall impact will be, but I hope this qualms some fears about depth on the line this season.  I think they would have been fine anyway, but a lot of other people have been freaking out.

Adding a Player that was the projected starter at Texas if he stayed and was the project starter for UCLA is certainly a good for us.

WPS maybe Coach Anderson is the type of  technician coach he needs.

This is interesting because the interior 3 are what seem to be our biggest need this year. I think they like Ragnow at any of those 3, but hate to lose him at center because having an experienced center is huge for O line communication. I wonder if they put Raulerson at Center and then have Ragnow at a guard spot so as to have the best on the field, and not worry about communication as much.

Wildhog

Maybe now we can redshirt Rogers, like we should have last year.

I agree here. I imagine the plan was too get Rogers more playing time and it just didn't happen. RS the guy and keep developing him.

With this addition we now have a few different options on the table.

You mean a guy who was a Freshman and playing out of his natural position made a couple mistakes ?  Oh My !

Ragnow may be our best linemen at any position...i think they really worried t LT

They seem to be satisfied with Jackson.  They haven't moved him around much.  It seemed like every spring practice they had another RG.  Hopefully this will allow Ragnow to go back to guard.

to be fair, i called him 3 years ago and was wrong. or was right 3 years early. at any rate, he is our highest rated lineman i believe!

The O-line just got better without breaking a sweat. Now who wants to complain about CBB not signing full classes in February?
There are fans and there are supporters. The latter carries the weight.

He will be a hog. I won't be surprised if he is one of 2-3 more players added to the 2016 class.

Quote from: Wildhog on June 15, 2016, 07:13:45 pm
Well, we certainly have room.

He is only going to count on the 85 and not against the 2016 class since he is a graduate transfer

And btw this is a HUGE pickup!  basically like getting a JC transfer but rather then spending 3 years at a JC he spent them playing at a major school AND he numerically replaces the RS Jr spot that didn't pan out for Koehler

we could have signed a full class AND still taken him as grad transfers only count on the 85 and not the 25

Yep, but you cannot sign full classes year after year and get away with it.

I'm a fan of depth.  Glad we just added some

If he pans out and can break into the starting lineup, look for this:
LT - rfr. Colton Jackson 6'6" 310
LG - soph. Hjalte Froholdt 6'4" 310
C - jr. Jake Raulerson 6'5" 300
RG - jr. Frank Ragnow 6'5" 315
RT - sr. Dan Skipper 6'10" 330
That's a talented O-Line!
Sophomore Brian Wallace would probably be the #1 backup on the right side, guard & tackle, and he would be the top candidate to replace Skipper at RT for 2017 and 2018. Nice!
