Anyone else think that going to the Music City and Indy Bowls in 2002 and 2003 after 9 win seasons hurt the Hogs.  I mean we deserved better than that. You win 8 or 9 games and you should be looking at Peach at worse.  With that said here's my thoughts of the SEC bowls

Capital One-Good SEC-Big 10 game.  Unfortunately Hogs won't be able to participate because they'll take a SEC East team over us.

Outback-Another good SEC-Big 10 game.  Tampa is a great city and we could get lucky and see a NFL game.

Cotton-Dallas is the Hogs out of state home.  They love us, we love them.

Peach-This bowl is the fastest growing bowl.  Next year they get the ACC runner up.  This year they had LSU-Miami.  They always sell out the games.  Hogs always get ignored by Peach

Music City- This bowl is about to take off.  It dropped the Big 10 and now added the ACC.  It's in a fun city and the ACC teams travel much better than the Big 10.  I'd love a Hog-Clemson game or VT-Hog game.  I think that would create lots of interest

Indy Bowl-Only good thing about Shreveport is the Casinos and Cajun food.  The matchup could be nice if Nebraska, OU or a SWC team were in it, but Mizzou and Iowa State won't help the bowl

Liberty-This is new.  It's a SEC-CUSA game.  If the Hogs went here we'd bring lots of fans, so would Ole Miss and MSU, but I doubt any other schools would.  What CUSA team would create interest for the Hogs?  Memphis maybe?

When were we in the Outback Bowl.  In 1998 we went to the Citrus Bowl which is now the Capital One Bowl.

hogfan064

Yes, I got the Citrus and Outback Confused.  Ybor is a very cool place though.  Tampa is a much better city than Orlando IMO

THe SEC bowl tie ins are good, BUT  they need to have a ranking based on records, not just the whim of the Bowls.  The team that loses the SECCG should be the SEC #2, no ifs and or buts about it.  If the SEC 1 gets the BCS, then the #2 should get the Cap One.  3.  Either Cotton or Outback.  4 whichever 3 does not go to.  then 5 would be peach.  and so on.
People ask me what I do in winter when there is no baseball.  I will tell you what I do. I stare out the window, and I wait for spring.

I don't exactly agree that the losed of the SEC championship game should be in the SEC's #2 bowl.   What if the final standings looked like this

East
Florida  8-4(8-5 after SECCG loss)
Tenn.   8-4
UGA     8-4
USC     7-5
UK       4-8
Vandy   3-9

West
Alabama   12-0
Arkansas   10-2
LSU           9-3
Auburn       8-4
MSU          3-8
Ole Miss     0-12(we can only hope)

Hog fans would be upset if Florida got to the Cap One and we didn't

im pretty sure I read where the Peach Bowl has been elevated to our Number 1 non-BCS game.

I would like to see atleast 1 tie-in with a Pac 10 opponent.

Hoggy Potter

I know we picked up the Liberty Bowl...did we drop the Houston?  I know we have not had enough teams to place an SEC team in there yet but we still had the tie in.  Would be a great Bowl if it was tied in with the PAC 10.

Just Play to Win Baby!!!

HoopS

yes, we dropped the Houston Bowl.   I live in Houston and just knew I would see the Hogs in it, they would have loved to have had us down here too.   I'm pretty sure they picked up conference USA in our place.

hogfan064

A Pac 10 tie in would be great, but with what bowl?  The SEC bowls already have BCS conference ties. Maybe the Liberty will drop CUSA and add the Pac 10

hogsanity

Most SEC tie in bowls are played East of the Mississippi River and pac 10 teams do not travle well, especially for smaller bowls.  SO it is unlikely any bowl with an SEC tie in will get the pac 10.

Agreed Hogsanity......     If you lose in the SEC Champ game you should be in the best bowl in the Tie-in before anybody else in the conference...while the winner goes on to the BCS..... It's stupid the way they do it now..........

To me, I wouln't be offended.... Florida wins the EAST trumps hogs 2nd place in the west finish... No question....

The Capital One bowl has traditionally taken the highest ranked SEC team available.  That's how we went in '99 even though Miss. State went to the SEC Championship game.

What if the Hogs beat Florida 38-14 earlier in the year?  I know this is alot of what ifs, but look at the Big 12 North.  Should Colorado get the Big 12's 2nd bowl?

hogsanity

There has to be some reward for winning your division other than just the SECCG.  OR, let me put it another way.  There should be no penalty for losing the SECCG.  Just like this year, LS should have been playing on Jan 2 in either the Cap One or the Outback.  The PEach ( although no longer called the peach ) is stepping up their payout looking to become the # non-bcs bowl.  THat will only further complicate the tie ins.  THe peach is going to almost always want a SEC East team or AUb ( who geographically is a sec east team ).

Look what you now have.  SEC tie ins  Outback/Cap One and Chickfila (peach), all played well east of all the West Div teams except Aub.  Music city is a either way.  Liberty, Indy, Cotton in the west.  Sugar is neither because they are tied to the SECCG winner.  THe western teams, unless they win the SECCG or have a 10 win year are going to the lower tier bowls just because of where they are.

The Music City is going to become a better bowl.  It's in a good city, with a nice stadium and a ACC-SEC game will draw lots of regional interest.  Clemson, VT, FSU, NC State, and UNC all have large fan bases that will travel for a game against a SEC team(especially Clemson)

I dont see it.  The MC bowl is still going to get the 5th or 6th team every year.  Whats really bad is in the ACC and SEC that is often the same team year after year.  Look at the Big 10.  They sent MN to the MC bowl 3 times in 5 yrs if I remember right.  THey play at horrible times.  In the middle of the day in the middle of the week between CHristmas and NY.  Plus, they obviously have no pull to get the teams they actually want.  They get what everyone else passes on basically.  I am sure they would rather have had SC this year.  Sc is alot closer to Nashville than it is to Shreveport.

SC fans wanted the Music City Bowl also.  They would've sent 20,000+ to Nashville.  If the Music City Bowl ended up with a Clemson-Georgia they'd get 60,000-70,000.  If they got Boston College-Kentucky then you'd have 20,000.  Adding the ACC will help though.  South Carolina fans would love a shot at their old ACC rivals and teams like UGA, UT, and UF would enjoy it too.

Doesn't matter....   Div Champ trumps a 2nd place finish.....  Obviously, it doesn't matter... As in 1993 when Lou's Irish whipped Florida State and Florida State went on to play for the Nat'l Championship.......

I'd love the hogs go to the capital one bowl, because I live in orlando, and about 15 minutes away from the citrus bowl.
