The next school that hires Lane Kiffin will have a big time winner.  At Tennessee he was 7-6 his first year and they loved  him, the way he left was not pretty.  At Southern Cal he was 28-15, He has an overall winning percentage of .625%.  He was still a little young to get the big opportunities that just fell his lap. He has had time to mature and has done a great job learning form Sabin.  He is in the top 5 college football coaches in playing calling.  I think he is the best game day coach in the game at the present time. He can flat out recruit, but the thing that really impresses me about him is his ability to coach up QB's. He and CBP are the best at getting a QB for their system and coaching  then up.  Lastly this would be his 3rd time and he would make the most of it, if I were an AD he is the man I would hire.  This only is my  opinion.

Can he recruit ANYWHERE?

Or just SC BAMA and TENN? Bc recruiting to those places really doesn't call for that much effort.

He has certainly been around a lot. He is great as an OC. I think he got started as a HC too young, but he would be ready now.

I'd like to see him get a chance somewhere.

history does not justify the "big winner" accolades but I think that if he is given a chance at Houston, with that talent base, he could really do well there.  He would have to get some assistants who can recruit that area and into Louisiana.  I would think he would attract some really good QBs

King Kong

I think he can win. But it's far from a stone cold lock

It takes more effort at Tennessee more than you think to recruit there.

No coach has had trouble recruiting to Tenn yet.

I'm sure it's nothing that a $500 retainer can't fix.  Contact JackRabbit Hog for payment instructions.

My recommendation is for you to take this post back to the drawing board...

He's had pretty good talent wherever he's been. So I'm not sure I could say he was top 5 at anything.

I almost wish I could smite you with fire and brimstone. Kiffin will never demand the discipline or lead by example that it takes to be a successful hc  at any level. Even highschool .... he is a disaster. He is just waiting to pork the next grad student.

He's failed spectacularly with two brand name programs.

He might find some success, but no.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Same with Kingsbury. Whenever Texas tech fires him Saban will just hire him as a consultant. Bielema should beat him to it.

With caveats.

He got the Raiders job when he was, what, 31 or 32 at the time? What 1st time coach is going to walk into Al Davis' train wreck of an organization and win when they're that young and inexperienced at the NFL level. Going from an OC in college football in your 20's to the HC of the Oakland Raiders is freaking tough.

At Tennessee, he was following a legend and he bailed almost immediately when his dream job opened up. So you only got one year to see his work at Tennessee. The sample set there is incomplete.

And when he took over USC, they were mired in sanctions that they're just starting to crawl out of. I'm not sure his failures are good snapshots of what's he's capable of.

My point is -- I'm not sure the real Lane Kiffin HC has even presented itself yet in a situation that could allow him to succeed. I'm not saying Arkansas is that place, because I don't think Arkansas would be good for Lane Kiffin, and vice versa. But I could be totally wrong.

Kiffin is not HC material

Maybe not, but maybe so. He was too young the first time around.

Someone will give him a chance. If not this year, then next year.

^^^^^THIS^^^^^
Additionally, who would work for him on his staff if he was a head coach?

Depends on location.

Also, plenty of coaches out there that would like a job or a promotion...

TeufelHog

Just don't see him bringing anybody with him except "up & comers."  Location is a great point and I guess there would be those looking to make a name for themselves/gain experience.

True. I mean, it is the same problem for any OC or DC jumping to the HC role somewhere.

Presumably Kiffin would have a few advantages that most first time HCs wouldn't, but who knows..

Calling All Hogs

In my opinion, Enos is a better OC and QB developer than Kiffin.
