Unfortunately, I think we will be left out in the cold for Nashville.  The more I read the more I am thinking A&M to Texas Bowl and LSU to Cotton.  Which leads me to believe we will be stuck in Shreveport.  Never the less.  Let's see what Hogvillians think.

Someone here mentioned this was the destination whether or not we beat Missouri.  This hasn't changed.

I think it would take a miracle.

LSU is not going to the Cotton, I doubt any SEC team will go to the Cotton.  Best guess would be Western Michigan vs a Big 10 team.

Kentucky basketball plays Ole Miss on the 29th....kinda wondering if they end up in Memphis for that reason.

It won't be the Birmingham or Independence bowl. It probably won't be the Texas bowl or Liberty since Arkansas played there the last two years.  So it's probably the Belk, Taxslayer, or Music City.  I think the Music City will push hard for Tennessee or Kentucky.  So my guess would be the Belk.

Absolutely no way we end up with Shreveport or Birmingham.  South Carolina, Kentucky, or Vandy will fill those spots.

We are in the Music City, Belk, Liberty, and Texas pool.  I think we go to Music City or Belk just because of our last two bowls being Liberty and Texas.

Bama-NC
Auburn-Sugar
Florida-Citrus
LSU-Outback
Tennessee-TaxSlayer
Georgia-Belk/Music City
Arkansas-Belk/Music City
Kentucky-Liberty
A&M-Texas
South Carolina-Birmingham
Vandy-Independence

I don't think I missed anything, but that's my best guess for what's worth...

This is spot on accurate.  The only unknown is if the Texas Bowl wants aTm as much as it appears.  If so, then I believe it will fall out as such and we wind up in Charlotte.  If not, then aTm gets a higher nod and we're driving down I-49 again.

It was reported on the Bo Mattingly show yesterday that the SEC has already told ARK they won't be placed in Liberty or Texas again this year.

I agree.  There is an excess of highly ranked B1G teams and a dearth of quality SEC teams.  Bama goes to the CFP regardless of who wins in Atlanta.  Auburn goes to the Sugar if Bama wins the SECCG, otherwise they will rank UF higher and they will go to New Orleans.

The Indy and the Birmingham bowls are out for Arkansas, either Vandy, USC, and MSU will end up in those bottom bowls with whoever doesn't go there in the poll of six.

Arkansas will be in the pool of six too.  The Liberty & Texas are out because TCU and KSU will be the opponents.  The Outback & Taxslayer will take 8 win teams.

That leave the MCB and Belk probably picking between UGa and Arkansas.  Georgia will pull more fans to either bowl and will be the preferred choice of both bowls.  My guess is that it comes down to the bowl sponsors and I think Belk has more pull and can probably get the Dawgs leaving the MCB with Arkansas vs Iowa.

If Florida wins, they would be the SEC champions and would go to the Sugar irregardless of ranking. I agree that the Liberty Bowl and Texas Bowls are out. The Taxslayer bowl is taking Kentucky. The Music City bowl wants Tennessee.

I think it comes down to the Belk Bowl wanting UGA or us.  Or if our administration would rather go to the Independence due to location.

That's how I see it as well except I'm flopping Ark with UGA.  We'll get the MCB.

What are the locations of each bowl?

The ones that involve us are:

Taxslayer Bowl: Jacksonville
Music City: Nashville
Belk: Charlotte
Liberty: Memphis
Texas: Houston
Birmingham: "
Independence: Shreveport

Yeah, those are a toss up.  I do think we get one of those bowls and UGA the other.  Just depends on which bowl wants what team the most.  Based on proximity, UGA to Belk and the Hogs to Music City makes the most sense.  The SEC doesn't often make sense though.  There always seem to be some bowl assignments that are less than ideal.

If you're an old fart like me, it helps to call the Taxslayer bowl the Gator Bowl, and the Texas bowl the Bluebonnet Bowl.  And just for fun, you can call the Independence bowl the Weedeater Bowl.

I am surprised with the number of folks voting Birmingham.  Surely there is no chance we go there.  Right?

It's all about the money for these "lower" bowls.  Music City is pushing hard for Tennessee and Texas has to be pushing for the Aggies.  From what I heard this morning it could be us in the Gator Bowl vs Ga. Tech, Belk Bowl vs. Va. Tech as the leading contenders.  Although the Texas Bowl is showing interest.

Hopefully we "recover" from the loss and get a bowl win.

Gator Bowl president said he wants Kentucky.

Quote"That scenario, if that would take place, Kentucky is the major contender for our bowl game," Catlett said. "I think that would put Kentucky on the top of our list."

"Their fanbase is tremendous. That would make them very appealing to us."

Georgia Tech or Miami would likely be the ACC representative in the game, Catlett told SEC Country.

The bowl pitted SEC schools against Big Ten schools in each of the last six years. Georgia beat Penn State in last year's matchup.

The official announcement won't be made until 6 p.m. Sunday, but an Alabama win in the SEC Championship game could make Kentucky's path to the TaxSlayer Bowl clear.

"I think we feel really strongly about Kentucky and I think there's a good chance they'll play in our bowl game this year," Catlett said.

Why do people keep repeating the mantra-"No way we go to birmingham or shreveport". Yeah, dude, the first part is true but the second?...watch and see. That loss to Missou is all the excuse they need to stick us in Shreveport. And Indy Bowl has been wanting us back for years. And we already hit the Texas Bowl and Liberty Bowl. They aren't sending us to North Carolina, and if we had beaten Mizzou I bet Taxslayer would have been the one. But now? Indy.

Or an easy win in Shreveport as opposed to possibly facing Virginia Tech in the Belk.

We'll play a Waterboy-less South Central Louisiana State University in the Independence Bowl and have to hear all off-season about how CBB has won three straight bowl games.

We should want the Independence Bowl over the Birmingham Bowl.  We don't recruit Alabama much and at least we could have some Lousiana kids who could come watch us in Shreveport.
