Lol. So we are terrible, but when we point out instances of us not being terrible, that also makes us terrible.

How does acknowledgement of the fact that terrible Cardinals fans exist (yes, I've been to games and seen them), while also pointing out that most of us are reasonable constitute a "bubble?"

The Phillies fans I've encountered weren't battery chuckers, yet I could say they all were, then when they denied it, I could accuse them of living in a bubble. Neat trick.

Dr. Starcs

I've been around some insufferable Cardinals fans, but from my experience on this board, most of these dudes are ok. No worse than any other fan base. Lol.

McKdaddy doesn't need me to fight his battles, but he's one of the good ones.

When you have to point it out,  you are illustrating the problem.

You want to do something that actually shows the Cardinals fans not being intolerable, insecure, and awful?

Ignore criticism.  Go on with your daily not-being-that-bad-guy fan.   Encourage other Cardinals fans to do the same;  laugh at them when they behave like entitled jerks.

Beyond that, you feed the stereotype.

No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

I'm a Twins fan.  American League, with absolutely no rooting interest in the National League.   Unfortunately, Cardinals fans don't let you be neutral about their franchise, unlike say Giants fans.

I'm a Twins fan.

Many twins fans in the wife's fam, residing in the Minny/St P area. I really like their new stadium, particularly the stone used. I've enjoyed games there, but frankly have enjoyed all parks I've visited and getting to know local fans.

To the contrary, Cardinals fans make that impossible by their conduct.

Unfortunately, Cardinals fans regard everyone else's living room, as theirs.   And you are sort of forced to form an opinion of a team you have no reason to care about, either way.

They need more heaters for April games.   They need a better baseball team on the field.  I'm just glad they're moving on with a new manager.

The last time I went up for a game, there were 3 inches of snow that fell before gametime.

If they ever get back to playing October (or November) baseball, it'll rear its ugly head again.

Kind of related, as far as weather talks. I think I'd care more about baseball if the season, and frankly the games, weren't so dang long. Start in April, end in August.

Same goes for regular season nba games. Start in December, end in April.

I know $$$ will never allow that to happen though.

I think we won't see a change in baseball, unless there's the kind of opportunity that's being presented to basketball right now, where there's a huge influx in revenues that can keep both ownership and players happy, and leave everyone with more money.

That said, if the NBA was ever going to shorten their season, the time is when that new contract comes into effect.

Every time you respond, you show the inability of a Cardinals fan to take even a tiny bit of criticism of their team or fan base;  thereby, you demonstrate at fantastic length, exactly the point I illustrate.    You make my argument for me.

He's just mad because there's 30+ pages of Cardinals baseball discussion in the hogville mlb forum and no other team has double digits.

Rationalization is yet another symptom of Cardinals Fan Hysteria.  Thanks for continuing to illustrate my point.  The poll, by the way, is excellent passive-aggressive Cardinal Fan behavior.  'To show I'm not irrational, I'll build in a joke!  That'll show just how not-entitled I am!'

....and then it gets 20%ish  of the vote, because Cardinal fans love to congratulate themselves on their excellent conduct.   Hey, we can laugh at ourselves, so there is no way we are that bad!

If that doesn't sum up what's wrong with the Cardinal Fan Base, nothing will.

I'm not the one in distress;  it is very plainly Cardinals fans that can brook no critiques of their team or fan base.    For the most part, I'm super amused.    The remainder is sad, for the Cardinals fans who can't see their own conditions.

Oh-- and speaking honestly about Cardinal fans isn't goading, to anyone but Cardinal fans who can't stand even the smallest naysaying.    That's at the heart of things.   Saying a single cross word about something they cannot discuss rationally, provokes.

Sandoval 3B
Prince Fielder 1B
C.C. Sabathia P

Ronnie Belliard 2B ( only fat 2B I can remember)
Any Molina C
Manny Ramirez LF
Are there any fat CFs?
Babe Ruth RF

Since you went historical with Manny and Ruth, you could use Hack Wilson or Kirby Puckett reasonably.

I had to go way, way back to come up with an out of shape RFer (Ruth seems a little out of place on my list). Kirby Puckett's a good choice in CF. I couldn't think of any, so at least you don't have to go back to pre-1950, lol.

Great series.  I feel bad for the Royals fans that have been there with them through the years... but what Sabean and Bochy have done together in recent years is some of the best baseball management in history.

Giants were underdogs in every step of this post-season.  From Wildcard play-in game to tonight.

It's clear the Royals will have a solid team going forward.

Great season!

Yep, Bochy is a mad genius when he hits postseason.  Love how Bum performs in playoffs while Kershaw and the Dogturds choke.
