Scarblog: The last thing the men's and women's Final Fours need is to share the same stage

Some trial balloons should never get off the ground, and if they unfortunately begin to take flight, they should be shot down on sight lest they stay afloat long enough for some misguided decision-maker to climb aboard the latest version of the Hindenburg.

Now, about the latest iteration of an ill-conceived, ill-advised notion to put the men's and women's Final Fours in the same city at the same time.

First, let the air out of it. Next, kill it with fire. Finally, soak the embers, gather the ashes and bury them in an unmarked grave alongside some of the worst ideas of all time like New Coke, Google Glass, Mike Price at Alabama and Tony Barbee at Auburn.

Why is it that someone is always trying to mess with March Madness? It's the best sporting event on the annual calendar. It delivers more moments of unscripted drama, touches more dots on the map and sparks more discussion and passion from inside and outside its hardcore base than any other national championship.
