Why leave Clemson to rebuild? And not as HC. So you're good enough for us to talk to, but not good enough to be the HC, why don't you come as DC instead? I would have a hard time with that. But $ talks, so maybe $2.5M would get it done. I doubt it. Especially after hearing him talk on Bo's show the other day. He didn't give me the impression he was looking to move or that moving was something he's even comfortable doing. A HC job is a different story altogether.

That being said, the DC choice will make or break this hire. We have to get a great one. Period.

Looking at some mid majors, UTSA had a pretty stout defense this year. 2nd in total yards and 7tth in scoring.

yea I dont see it. CCM knows what kind of impact this hire will make. I dont think its Venables( but I'm hopeful) but it could be Marion Hobby and thats not a bad thing

Not as stupid as thinking we would get into a public bidding war with Clemson over Venables.  What's really dumb is people thinking that Venables would come interview for the HC job, get passed over, and then take a lesser position- one that would essentially be a demotion from his current position as the DC for a past NC and current playoff team.

Graham, who was just fired from AZ St is much more likely... But he's going to coach in his bowl game first.

I wouldn't be shocked at John Chavis of A&M, Jim Leonhard of Wisconsin, Pete Golding of UTSA, Todd Grantham of Miss St, Chad Glasgow of TCU, or Todd Graham.
