Monday Morning Quarterback / Re: Treylon Burks

Quote from: DOGALUM on May 10, 2024, 03:09:14 pmSo much of big time stars becoming big time stars is due to them being ready when their opportunity comes and  making the most of it.   That leads to more opportunities.  We all know Burks has elite talent....he just has to be ready and has to produce when his shot comes again.  Never know when it might be your last.

So true.

If we have 10 solid to elite players, we could pick up three guys who can just fill a uniform for a year.  We can grab guys from the the portal who played at a smaller school, don't have a lot of options and only one year left to play.  They can serve as practice players at an elite level school, which is kind of what spots 11-13 do anyway for most teams in the portal era, to finish their career.  The days of guys sticking around to develop is largely gone.  Almost no elite team gave heavy minutes beyond the 8th or 9th player.  So getting guys to scrimmage against is probably about as much as we can expect from the last three spots.  If we could find a developmental gem, great, but I certainly don't expect it.

Quote from: jgphillips3 on Yesterday at 09:15:34 pmI think it's as simple as Cal is basically Saban level in college basketball recruiting and he can take his time because of his past record and all of those NBA players he has put in the league.  Muss had to hustle because he doesn't have that pedigree yet.  Cal is THE big dog in college recruiting and can be patient.
I like that thinking. Sounds plausible no doubt. Would love to get a commitment from Wags.  Would really really like to get an early commitment from Acuff for next year which could open the flood gates for 2025 recruits

Quote from: Tejano Jawg on Yesterday at 10:55:06 pmJust got some good call-outs from TNT...JWill vs Gafford on the jump ball, "Arkansas vs Arkansas, with Arkansas' coach in attendance."
Yup. Not used to getting that many callouts in the NBA playoffs for sure
