My favorite part of the whole article...
QuoteArkansas still in picture for elite WR Devonta Lee
Wide receiver Devonta Lee scrapped his plans to visit Arkansas last weekend in favor of heading to Alabama. That seemed to be a clear sign the Hogs were falling out of contention, but Lee is saying otherwise.

According to what he told SEC Country's Sam Spiegelman, the Razorbacks are still in close contention with some major programs for his commitment. Lee, a 4-star prospect from Amite, La., is the No. 48 overall prospect in the 2019 class.

"USC, Clemson, LSU, Auburn, Texas, Arkansas and Ohio State," Lee said. "They've recruited me, checked on me, text me every day to make sure I get up and I can play as a true freshman."

I have confidence that every player we sign in 2019 will be a high quality player. All the names we read about now are of kids that are going to be heavily recruited during the rest of their high school careers. Decisions will change, and change again. It's hard to put any confidence even in announced "commitments" it seems.

Still, I love reading about the different players, and am planning on taking some small "Friday Night Roadtrips" of my own this fall. Going to see a game or two in places like Rison, Warren, LR Christian Academy, Pulaski Academy, and Camden Fairview. The schools out in the Great Northwest are just too far for me as I have to work most of the day before takeoff.

I'm just really interested in seeing the best kids Arkansas has coming up. I surely do hope they choose Arkansas--that's where my heart is--but if they don't, I'll wish 'em well, and, truthfully, forget all about 'em. It's all I can do to keep up with the ones they play for the Razorbacks. The ones that leave here and go play someplace else--I don't judge them, or fault them. I simply forget all about them.

But the ones that come here, and play, and especially the ones that play well...Those are the ones I tell my friends, family, children, and grandchildren about. Those are the ones that are spoken of at deer camp, work, the Hangout, etc.

When an Arkansas kid chooses Arkansas, and plays well, he becomes a Razorback Legend.

WOOOOOO PIG! SOIEEEE!
Go Hogs.
Slow down, son. You'll ride past a lot more good stuff than you'll ever catch up to.

This is the downside to the Morris approach compared to the Bielema approach of treating an offer like a bar of gold.

Both approaches have pros and cons.  the con of the bielema method is you lose out on some players by having a death grip on the offers.  The downside of the Morris approach is what the OP described.  Balancing the early commitments that will inevitably come from using the "big net" method.

So, don't put you down in the "numbers will work themselves out" group?

You figure if I go there first, I won't want to go anywhere else?

Judging by all I've heard, you may be right! I checked to see if the Warren Lumberjacks 2018 schedule was out yet, but it doesn't appear to be. It's less than two hours down from where I live (a lot less on a motorcycle), so maybe I will get to see Mr. Burks a couple of times. But there are other kids I want to see, as well. And small town high school football games are a hoot to go to anyway. Hoping I can find a Rison Wildcats hat next time I roll through there.

He will have you leaving in awe....and its because he is dominant at every phase of the game at the high school level.
Where are you located?

I'm in Hot Spring County, close to Malvern.

I bet he really is something to see. Sure hope he ends up on The Hill! For a few years, anyway, before he starts playin' on Sundays.

Just checked and it appears to be 1.5 hours so that's just "a hop and a skip" from here! Just got to watch for their schedule to come out.

LR is an easy 40-minute ride. I-30 all the way.

You live down around Warren? If so, you have been blessed to see a LOT of talented high school players.

I do concede that historically the numbers do work themselves out.  It just seems that process is getting more difficult.
