Quote from: TheGrove68 on Today at 12:08:56 amDo you actually believe that Ark. is viewed as a better program across the Nation in College Football Fan circles outside of the Ark. region?

Yes. A program's status isn't defined by who will have the better season this year, or even next. It's about who is going to have a better season in 2030.

Arkansas dwarfs mizzou on the all time win list. Arkansas has had 30 draft picks over the past decade. Mizzou has had 27. Arkansas brings in more revenue and typically recruits better than mizzou.

Other than head to head record and recent win/loss totals, there's not to many metrics that Mizzou surpasses Arkansas.

Quote from: Ex-Trumpet on Yesterday at 04:57:26 pmCam Little is probably the most likely to be drafted...but not on day one.

McGlothern and Limmer are the most likely to get drafted. Little is the most likely to have a long NFL career, but only a handful get drafted and there are a couple guys better than him.

Quote from: rhames on Yesterday at 10:52:55 amI mean we are losing a scholarship QB to the portal. Not sure why this move is a head scratcher.

First, from a numbers perspective, we didn't 'lose' a qb, we trimmed down to the number of qb's we should carry in the fall. With this addition, we are now carrying too many again.

Secondly, what niche does he fill that isn't already filled? Young qb with good potential but still raw? We already have 3 of those. The big question is, if Green gets a bit too interception happy, who else would we turn to? Singleton? Jackson? If anything, we'd want a veteran backup who can manage a game to come here with the lure of learning from Petrino and probably getting to play a couple games due to injury.

Quote from: mckinneyhog5 on April 24, 2024, 10:28:09 amArkansas could beat LSU as much as Mizz has beaten Arkansas and LSU would still be considered the better program all the way around.

Quote from: tom horn on April 24, 2024, 09:10:39 amIt's very apparent the the whizzoo fans on this Razorback fan board are the smartest posters!  Also that the whizzoo athletic department has it all figured out and is playing chess while everyone else is stuck moving checkers around.  And that the fb coach is the greatest thing since Knute Rockne and Vince Lombardi!!  Makes a person wonder why they would waste their time on Hogville.

I don't think you have to be that smart to realize MU program doesn't have the Financial resources and regional top talent that teams like UGA/BAMA/OU/TEX/LSU/UF/TEN have. It's pretty obvious if you look at their legacy's as programs. NFL draft picks and National titles.

This plan isn't that unique at all other Mid-tier programs have utilized this type of system=Wisc,Kstate,Okie st.,TCU,Iowa,Mich. St., etc. to be competitive versus the Blue Bloods with $$$$$$ and 4/5** Talent on their Door step.

It's not a perfect plan by any means, having a Coach capable of implementing the plan and a coach that can  find underrated players RS them, develop them and by the time they are JR/SR they can compete against 4/5*** FR/Soph isn't easy.  And fans must always understand that programs like Mizzou will Cycle. We don't Reload we Rebuild because we don't recruit in the top 15 in the nation. So in a 4-5 year span 2 of those years will probably be 6-8 win seasons. And that is just how it's gonna be Mizzou isn't going to compete for Titles every year because of our limitations.

Now the NIL and Transfer Portal coupled with the Covid year have made things a bit different. It's possible that the up and down cycle could be mitigated a bit by bringing in Portal players to quickly plug holes. And if a Coach is above average on orchestrating NIL spending then maybe that changes or maybe it doesn't.

I think some of us Mizzou fans come here to hear a different perspective and view point. And to engage in CFB discussions.

Mizzou by no means has it all figured out and is perfect. I wish we could recruit like UGA/BAMA/TEX etc. and have a depth chart loaded with top flight talent but that is probably never going to be the case. So this Approach the Program has taken appears to be our best option.

Maybe you have some valid reason's why we should do something different I'd love to hear them.

Quote from: Snouty on Yesterday at 01:29:16 pmKJ Jefferson would have never been a serious contender for the Heisman Trophy, and he won't be this coming season for UCF, either.

In 2022 he was on the official heisman website's watchlist page as late as end of October.

Had he made improvements to his passing game as people hoped he would under Enos AND we get that defensive improvement to win more games, it's not crazy to think he could have finished 5th or 6th in the race. Out of the pool of ONLY heisman candidates, then that probably doesn't qualify as 'serious contender', but out of the pool of college players in general, it absolutely does.
