One thing seems clear.

When taking into account his full body of work as AD at Arkansas (finances, facilities, academics, success in various sports), the BOT chose not to fire Jeff Long. In fact, they chose to reward him.

I would wager that most Razorback fans who have a problem with Long feel that way because football is their first priority. It is not the first priority of our Chancellor, our UA President, or our BOT.

Have you ever considered that the people at UA who Jeff Long answers to share his philosophy of the proper role of intercollegiate athletics, and his theirs?

you don't think he'll get a two year pass like nutt did?  we came out of it with a 10 win season in 2006

The good old days.

So another good MJ pick like Kwame Brown? BTW is Archie on a team in the NBA or did he go overseas?

Archie was cut by the Trailblazers in the preseason despite averaging 7 a game and scoring 20 in his last preseason game. He is a pretty efficient scorer who averaged 8 a game at a high percentage at the end of last year with Nets. Unfortunately he doesn't do much of anything else. Be interesting to see where he lands this season.

You really don't know that.  And you're one of the smarter guys here.  You know that TCU, A&M and SC all could have gone the other way.  You know the loss of Rawleigh Williams, Ryan Pulley and Jared Cornelius had a huge impact on this team.  You know that Cole Kelley has a chance to be a difference maker, this year and next.  You know the Hogs have a good shot at winning 4 of the last 6 and a bowl game.

You know that there is likely to be a lot of competition this year for head coaches.  You know that Arkansas has a favorable schedule next year.  You know that it took 6 years for Mark Dantonio to get it going at Michigan State.  It took Spurrier 5 at SC, and that was following Lou Holtz.

Keeping CBB through his contract, at the least, would give other coaches some comfort that Arkansas won't cut and run without immediate success.  And maybe things will be better than most think.

I know we donít recruit well enough for the program to turn around. I also know I donít count game that could have gone the other way. If they could have they should have.

So it is all a conspiracy?

Frank drastically harmed the program but very few people are willing to call out the almighty.

He wasn't perfect and did make some mistakes but not the ones you are talking about.

Jeff Long did more harm to the program in 2012 than Frank ever did.

Man, I wish Beliema would just own up to the current state of Arkansas football.
He is responsible for the current product on the field.
Bringing up Petrino and JLS serves no useful purpose / especially since he put a better product on the field with Petrino's recruits, than he has with his own.

and there is not one playing in the ar hs ranks right now either

Who knows if TJ Hammonds might have or could be close? His tape suggests he's a stud, yet even with decent stats when he plays he rarely gets touches. It'd be one thing if he wasn't playing and we were all touting him like the backup QB, but when he's in he looks electric! It is amazing how a garbage Oline has made good running backs like Whaley, Williams, and Hayden look awful. They are being wasted.

I'm not convinced CBB is leaving either.

I agree.

The way to stop Auburn's run game is and always has been to play assignment football.  Get out of position and they will roast you, which means the Hogs are doomed because some of our defenders have a proclivity for getting out of position on the simplest of run plays, which is bad because all of Auburn's run plays are simple.

You don't understand Auburn's offense.

But you're right.  Defending the read option requires discipline.  Arkansas had little of that last year defensively.  They have improved in that respect this year, but not enough.

Playing assignment football and blitzing are not mutually exclusive.  The Hogs are going to have to bring the secondary up for run support no matter what to have a chance to beat Auburn.  If they play with discipline that's certainly possible.

The past decade of bad football and two decades of bad basketball have taught Arkansans something they might never have imagined before -- they can live without Razorback athletics.

Those people aren't going to spend $200 per night for a hotel any more to see the Razorbacks. I hope the people on the hill realize just exactly what is happening to their market right now.

In the words of Hans and Franz, hear me now and believe me later.
