I hope that you had an enjoyable trip.

Several years ago I worked in a South Texas oil patch with a guy from Venice, week-on-week-off.  He would drive from Venice to the McAllen, Texas area, near the Rio Grande.

He could tell a good tale; I enjoyed killin' time with him.  He was also a knowledgeable hand.  I remember him sayin' that there are places along the route to Venice that you had to look up to see the Mississippi.

You reckon he was tellin' the truth or just addin' spice?  Did you get a chance to look up at the Mississippi?
