The counter to that is "Well, when the chem professor can sell 100,000 tickets to his weekly lecture, then he can complain". And while that may speak a lot to our mutual interest in less-than-important things, it is actually a logical conclusion at this time.
It is the same with women's sports. Chemistry class and women's sports both fill a niche, fulfill a need, and are attended by many, and probably always will be. But the Big Dog that eats what he wants in today's world is men's sports. Fairness is not the same as equality. Fairness is a worthy goal. But there's nothing fair about men getting 90% of the quantity of baseball/softball scholarships that women's softball gets, and there's obviously nothing equal about it. Further, there's nothing equal about baseball or softball not getting the amount of scholarships required to fill a roster. One difference in college baseball is the MLB Minor League system. That is the direct competition to college baseball. It appears that this may change for the better before long.....hopefully so. 2
