How do I post a quote in my signature?

I've tried copying and paste but I'm looking for the grayed out post after it has been quoted.

Hit the quote button to get it in the reply as if you were gonna quote it there. Then copy what it puts in the reply box and go to where you edit your signature and paste it.

Or do this "[quot e]insert quote here[/quo te]" if you don't want or care about it being linked. take out the spaces in the word quote when you do it.
