Might be a good spot for skip, just lost starting right tackle to free agency, not crying about that, not a fan of Free.

Hawgar The Horrible

There are fans and there are supporters. The latter carries the weight.

With his mean streak ( as a positive ) and his physicality, what kept him from getting drafted? Mobility or lack there of ? Is he too big with not enough bend? I thought he would be drafted for sure.
This is fun, isn't it.

Not quite quick enough to play NFL tackle, struggled with speed rushers, and too tall to be a guard lead teams to worry about him being able to get leverage on an opposing player.

He's a player that is extremely talented for his size and that helped him become a very good OL in college however in the NFL he might struggle because of his size and lack of a defined position in the NFL. Can he build his quickness to be able to handle speed rushers. Then RT might be his calling.

He's the only surprise for me in this draft as far as Razorbacks go.   thought him making an NFL roster was marginal at best, but thought he'd still at least get drafted late.  Especially given this was a very weak OL draft class in general.

I suppose he doesn't have good feet...definitely not a tackle.  His height could be a disadvantage too.  And he was a penalty machine.  Great Razorback, good college player, but very marginal NFL potential.

I'm glad for Big Dan and hope he chisels out a spot on the 'boy's roster.  But I'm dubious at this level.  In the SEC I saw him get beat too many times by a speedy defensive end.  I hope he makes it, but.....
I don't like to plan my day because then the word premeditated comes into the conversation.

PorkRinds

I could see him getting some years as a kick blocking specialist.

NFL is a long shot for Big Dan but I hope makes it.

He's in a great spot to succeed.  He won't be required to perform next year.  He will be given the chance to grow and get stronger while sitting behind one of the greatest o lines in the last 5-10 years.  He can also be placed at the positions which fits him best instead of where the team needs him most.

I hope Dan makes a long career out of the NFL...just wish it was with a team I could root for.  Booooo

gotta do more than that....JJ is not going to fill one of the spots for a FG blocking specialist...I think we underestimate Skipper...he'll make the squad and contribute...Doug Free is as fragile at the right tackle spot as a 3 month old bear cub
The long Grey line will never fail our country.

Doesn't matter Free retired. I think Skip's place is at RT, so I think it helps there is not a known starter there, and we lost Leary, so the back end spot is available. Pretty sure he will make it to the Practice squad for a year or two anyway.

Very poor testing at the combine. Pretty good bend in the hips for somebody his size, but poor bend in the hips for what is needed in the NFL overall. Shorter arms than you'd expect for somebody his height.

He's got some physical limitations but he may be one of those guys that plays better than his measurables.  He started as a true freshman and held his own against more talented players.  We haven't had many players start on the o line as a true freshman.  Maybe 3 in the last 20 years.
Sometimes wrong, but never in doubt

Alvin Bailey, Dan Skipper, Denver Kirkland immediately come to mind, so that's like 3 in the past 6 years or so. Ragnow logged over 200 snaps his freshmen year but technically didn't start.

As a life-long Dallas fan that's the best news I've heard in the off season. Thanks for the information which will only help our boy, Skipper.

ad: just as long as Dan doesn't have these A&M flashbacks and start tripping defensive linemen 10 yards away from the play....if he does that just once, I figure he's either cut or goes straight to the scout squad

Razorback's Dan Skipper + Jerry Jones' Dallas Cowboys = Plus Plus.

Bailey was a rs fr.  The other one was Smoothers although he didn't keep his starting role after a couple of games.

Oops, brain fart there. Also, wow, forgot Smothers started 4 games as a true freshmen.

I remember Bailey and Swanson were both all sec freshmen and I thought one was a true freshmen. When I saw Swanson redshirted, I just assumed about Bailey.

I think he did late in his fr year.

Rocket23

Shawn Andrews started all three years as a Razorback, being named All-America as a sophomore and junior.  He was the first freshman to start on offensive line since Freddie Childress.

If football does not work out - perhaps beach volleyball. Follow Wilt's lead.
To add a "sig line" or "signature line": Go to your "profile" then go to "modify profile" then scroll down to where it says "Signature" and type in what you want it to say and then click on "change profile". That's it, you're done. Your sig line will only show up on your first post on each page.

screw that

if there's anyone I could ever think of having the greatest potential to have a call-in radio show, it's Dan Skipper

Callers will call him "Skip" and "Dan-O" and et cetera. He will be very popular. He's already got experience communicating to the public on his tweet about a lost dog in Fayetteville he found on his porch, and he led the charge to get that dog to it's rightful owners.

That's leadership and communication expertise!
