Blake is a 6-6, 220# senior at Lamar. He will be a preferred walk-on for the Razorbacks in football. Probably at tight end. He has deceptively good speed, very good hands and a good vertical jump. When the Lamar QB tore his ACL in the Charleston game, Kern stepped in from tight end and played the next several games at QB. Did a remarkably good job.

Tonight was a 3A regional tournament held at Lavaca. Lamar played Two Rivers. The gym was jam packed with a very vocal crowd. Sort of reminded you of the Hoosiers movie. It was a back-and forth game. With about a minute left and the game tied, the Lamar point guard was dribbling around, letting the clock run down. With about five seconds left he saw a  seam and drove in for the shot. He missed it, but Kern was there, grabbed the board and got the winning points with a two-handed slam. The crowd (at least the Lamar half) erupted. Lots of fun.

This kid is a very good athlete. His frame easily could handle more weight. No fat on him at all.
