Just curious how many support the Bears from UCA.

My son spent 2 .5 years of my money down there so I do have interest in UCA.
Due to the lack of interest, the remainder of this day has been cancelled.

I always liked UCA back in the Harold Horton NAIA/AIC days.   I always kept up with how their season's were going.

I got a letter from Coach Horton with an invite to put me up over a weekend to look at their program after my senior season in High School.   I still have the letter after 23 years.

I would love to see UCA as a D-1 school in ten years, maybe a member of the Sun Belt (or better).  Call to UCA alum's and boosters...open your checkbooks and think of the possibilities.  ASU had their chance (and still do ok).  But UCA could surpass the Indians in less than ten years if the folks in Central Arkansas will get on board.  There is no doubt in my mind UCA could out-recruit ASU in the LR metro area within a couple of years (gotta build a bigger stadium though).  I think it would be great.

ErieHog

Here's a thought;  UCA playing at WMS, as a D1 squad in 2016.    Its a nice arrangement for the area, allowing college football to remain in the area, and may take some of the pressure off of the U of A to split home games between the Rock and Fayetteville.

No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

I HOPE you weren't the PE teacher guy.  I saw no reason to do all of those pushups that early.  What years were you there?

Maybe by then the hot shots in LR would upgrade WMS to attract all three D-1 programs to play games there...who knows, maybe even play each other!

My father went there before going off to Korea then the U of A. I did Boy's State (1980) and almost went there to play baseball. I coached one of their FB freshmen in BB for 6 years. Great school and yep, I got the t-shirt!

Grew up in Conway, played soccer on their fields and went to a couple of games.  A check their RPI ever since they've been put into Division one A basketball.  Go bears.

If they don't pick it up on the Hill UCA might be able to start out-recruiting the Hogs in a few years.

If Nutt and Frank keep runing the show for much longer at U of A I think UCA will wind up being the top program in the state.

'92 Grad - went to a couple of games this past year - there is a lot of excitement around the move to the Southland Conference.  They are allowing some moderate tailgating on game days even shutting down Bruce Street (middle of campus) for the festivities.   Might be interesting in the next few years with some on field success.

I have one kid at UCA another at UofA, starting to really like UCA they have a competent AD and a very, very, very, good football coach.

Remember when UALR went to the NCAA tourney and thousands of fence-setters jumped on the Trojans' bandwagon...and how about when ASU almost beat the Hogs in the NIT and the same thing happened to a lesser extent.  UCA overtaking the UofA as the flagship sporting draw in the state will never happen, but if things fall just right, it sure could put a dent in the Hogs kung-fu grip on the $$$ donated to the 'foundation'.

That might be what needs to happen. Let th eU of A start losing some noticable amounts of cash and they might rethink their ways.

i love watching the bears.  one of the best parts about it is that you don't have to deal with all of the drama of the uofa.  i love going to watch there games.  they have really improved the game day atmosphere as well.  they are definitely on the rise.  o by the way, the wanted to play ASU this year and ASU said no- talk about a double standard.

Not a chance brotha.  Kappa Sig is hilarious.  Not even a real frat in my book.  I think they are the ones that just started up my freshman year.  A bunch decided they'd just bring it back.  No pledging.  No nothing.

Ha, I don't know many of the Phi Sigs at Conway anyway.  So, I couldn't tell you what I thought about them.  I know they throw one hell of a Halloween Bash though!

My wife graduated from UCA we try to make at least one game a year.

98hogs

Girlfriend's daughter is a cheerleader..........................so I'm a fan.  Went to every home game this year and enjoyed watching the Bears.

Silver Hog

count me in, i went to both of their national championship ties back in the 80s.  Froze my tush off but still had a good time.  Grew up in Conway so I guess part of me will always be a purple and white fan.

A perfect weekend for me was Conway winning on Friday, Bears and Hogs on Saturday and Vikings on Sunday.

Conway Cool Daddy

Both my wife and I are grads.
I plan on getting out to some games next year. It doesn't make sense to drive 5 hours to a game and back when I can just drive down the street. If the Hogs are content with eating cupcakes I'll just stay home and watch the Bears.

Much cheaper and much more entertaining as well.

I actually support all of the in state schools.
Since Steve Roberts is a Joe T grad I  pull for those guys despite some of their fans.
