Beard should have played more in the 1st half

CMA should have given more minutes to Beard and the 1st half would have been different. Madden and Bell were below average on the defensive end and were not making impact on defensive that Beard did. Beard and Portis played well but both should have gotten more minutes. Wasnt Portis like 10 of 13 tonight?

I really wish, like the ISU game, MA would back off everyone else an let Beard pick up the other team's ball handler and let him guard him as he brings the ball up.  Beard could easily get under that guy's skin and make him very uncomfortable.

Beard turned ball over 3 consecutive times in the first half. He settle in the second half. But i wouldn't say he needed more PT first half. Portis needs to start taking over the game. He obviously our best player, and when he gets his baseline jumper falling he's unstoppable.

Beard might be the toughest and the most feisty player on the team. He is a spark plug! I love his mentality! He's not scared at all. He is a gamer! We need more players with his go get it mentality. I can live with the turnovers right now because he's young but he's only going to get better with that and his decision making.

No! Mike handled him perfect IMO.  I like Beard but he was a shell shocked freshman in that first half.  He needed to be sat, adjust to the environment and he got put back in and played much better in the second half.  Mike handled him just fine with minutes

Beard should be starting by conference time. Madden will lose a lot of minutes and that is okay with me.

Madden struggles defending really good, quick guards.  He is 6'5" and just not as quick as a lot of the guys he is asked to defend.  Don't think its lack of effort.  Just a tough matchup playing a guy who should probably be playing the 3 spot at the 1.

He also can foul out in about 5 minutes too. He isn't very smart with his defense right now, something you gotta be in Mike's system if you want to stay on the court.

I agree with this. You can over-expose guys if you give them too many minutes.

Beard made a couple bad decisions in the first half that lead MA to put him on the bench. He showed a lot of character by competing in the second half.

Beard=Beck, IMO.  I saw Beck play in HS, (King Cotton Classic in PB) and said then that the kid was a BOSS.  I see that exact same mentality in Beard, but Beard has more offensive gifts.  COME ON MIKE!!  Start Beard and move Ky over to the 2.  Beard and Durham can handle the PG duties. Manny is a defensive specialist , and doesn't need the burden of trying to run the offense, and should always be paired with our best offensive unit.  GHG!!!

Beard looks like he's not even old enough to grow a beard! When I first saw him I thought Mike was letting his grandson sit on the bench. Kid can play some ball and gives great effort.
