Tonight was very similar to Cal last year. Just flat everywhere. Let's see how we respond. WPS

We fought back in the second half. Hot shooting and untimely calls kept us down. We will beat Clemson and get back on track.

Calls had little impact tonight. ISU started red hot and we didn't have enough to get through it. However they got a lot of great looks due to flat D in the first half. We scratched back some but still not a great showing. Hope we bounce back against Clemson.

Back to back terrible calls early in the second half handed five points to ISU when we had started a run. Totally killed our momentum. However, refs did not lose the game. I think we bounce back.

Calls in BB rarely if ever win or lose games. They do, however, define the way the game is played. It's up to the road team, usually to adjust to the refs, without completely shutting down on defense. Tonight, for about a 12 minute stretch early in the game, AR shut down.

Calling fouls on missed reverse layups where we didn't even touch the player hurt. No way around it.

Based on what they were calling on the ISU end of the court. Harris should have shot 12 FT

Who is our Coach?

Iowa State didn't need any help.  They outplayed us last night.  You don't shoot 64% by accident.  But games called closely 40 feet from the basket hampers how we want to play, there is no denying that.  Iowa State was in the bonus before the under 16:00 TV timeout in the second half, and most of them were hand checks at mid court with no advantage gained.  It irritates me when those are called, but post play is allowed to go unchecked.  Thought Harris should've had two and ones in the second half.  Madden couldn't get a call in the lane.  It's part of playing on the road though.

If we would have played like we did last night against Cal, we would have won.

Cal- NIT team
ISU- Sweet 16 team, maybe more this year.

We shot 48% from the field against ISU, 32% against Cal.
We shot 36% from three against ISU, 16% against Cal.

We had 22 assists on our 28 made shots against ISU.
We had 13 assists on our 25 made shots against Cal.

We played a better team than Cal last night and we played a better game than we did against Cal. Sometimes, the opponent just plays amazing at home, a lot of Top 25 teams understand that very well when they come into Bud Walton. That's what we faced. Not much we could have done last night to win that game with the way Iowa State played.

I was referring to our energy in the first half and how cold we started the game. The biggest difference was we finished stronger against ISU. When we played Cal we play 4 terrible quarters.

It is frustrating, but if you look at it, refs usually don't call you for being physical when you're facing your man between him and the basket.

Last night, Niang would get a nice move around Portis and Williams would come over to help.  What you want to do as a defender in that situation, is see it early, and get there so that the offensive player has to pull up, but instead Williams would get there late and try to block the shot by swatting down at Niang or catching him with the body when he was already beat.
