Hell, I don't like OU.   Texas either.   I just know they got screwed.

And I know OU lost their best defensive player in the game.

Fair enough, pal.  I'm just tired.  And, none of us are going to change their mind.  God, I hate the BCS.

I'd wager damn well that OU wins a rematch.  Losing your star LB and RB in a game is what allowed Texas to make a comeback.

However, my main issue is these polls don't have a set criterion to work by.  Do you rank teams based on:

1.  Best overall body of work?
2.  Which team is hottest?
3.  Which team is most talented?
4.  Which team would have the best head to head if they played each other?
5.  Which team is scarier?

Disagree, but we'll never know.  I gotta go with the one who stepped up and walked off the field of battle victorious when it was time to put up or shut up.

Tech did do that in the Tex game...I have to agree with you there.

True, which is why the fact that we are stuck with this BCS bs is so unforgiveable.

Don't even get me started on what these people down here (B12 country) want to see happen.

Well, since this is slowly turning into a playoff thread, I present to you the three biggest hurdles to a playoff:

Jim Delany (Big 10 Commish)

Rose Bowl (Doesn't want its pageantry marginalized)

Big 10 Presidents

Also, read this letter Delany wrote trying to act as if the Big 10 is better than the SEC:

I've hated Texas for 45 years.  I've only hated OU as long as Stoops has been there, but fair is fair. UT kicked OU's butt, and they have identical records, period. Case closed.  End of discussion.  (Well, probably not.)

That's it...what he said.

Doesn't matter.  USC could probably beat all four teams ahead of them right now.  Their defense is just unreal and could shut all four of the teams down.

It's a shame that they aren't going to get a shot based on something that happened two months ago, even though they have an identical record to 3 of the 4 teams ahead of them right now...

So the BCS rankings tomorrow will go something like this:

1. Alabama
2. Texas or OU
3. Texas or OU
4. Florida
5. USC

Let's assume that Big12 south division winner, say TX, beats MO in the conference championship.  Then TX will be guaranteed a spot in the NC game.  Now, what if, as many expect, FL beats AL for the SEC championship?  Is it then actually guaranteed, as so many think, that FL will then jump OU for a spot in the NC game?  I agree that would be the obvious case (the computers would love Florida for beating the #1 team), but based on the human voting today, I wouldn't put it past them to put TX and OU in the NC game.  Especially after all the OU/TX debate these past days, and how so many advocated for an OSU/MICH rematch in the NC game a few years ago.

The real shame here is the Big 12 is allowing something outside the 4 corners of the football field to determine who gets to play for their conference championship.  This year you can't do it based on conference record (3 way tie), or head to head (all 3 teams won one of those games), or overall records (all are 11-1).  So it should go to some predetermined criteria based upon on the field performance, even if it is margin of victory (which admittedly isn't very desirable but at least it reflects performance).  Or maybe strength of schedule, or strength of nonconference schedule.  Or SOMETHING based on playing football.  But to leave it to polls makes it a popularity contest and in that case the team with the biggest fan base, media base, historical success, etc., has the advantage.  The rich get richer.

I know everybody hates USC, but I kind of agree.  The best two teams right now are FL and USC...IMHO.  That would be a great matchup, but I still think FL, if healthy, has the edge over USC.

USC doesn't deserve a shot any more than any other one loss team....welcome to the BCS clowns and the joke mythical championship

It doesn't matter, I do not think either OU or TX can beat either Bama or FL.  Their stinking conference does not play ANY defense.  The OU/OSU game was not a game of great teams, it was just another high-scoring Big X11 game, they might as well have been playing 7 on 7.

I'd take either team against Alabama; it's not a matter of them having to run up and down the field all day,  I just don't see any circumstance whereby Alabama could hang the necessary 35 up against either of these squads to win.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

UhOhioHog

None of this matters now.  Everyone knows that Stoops can't win a Bowl Game!!!

Texas not only beat OU, they beat Arkansas as well, thus deserve to be ranked higher.  JK  ;)
