With identical records, nothing should be given MORE weight than the head to head, toe to toe battle on the football field.

You might be right...so Texas Tech should go.

2 things happened in Dallas that helped Texas a lot.   OU lost their best defensive player and a play that should have been reviewed was not - had it been reviewed, it would have favored OU and the momentum would have been right back with them.

Texas struggled to beat OSU by 4.  OU beat them by 20 and could have played add-on late but didn't.

Texas lost in a close game to Tech.  OU absolutely destroyed Tech.

OU is playing better ball right now.

After all the Texas or Oklahoma opinions die down because the BCS puts one of these two in the Big XII championship, I think it would be hilarious if Missouri wins and takes the Big XII crown.  This would really screw the BCS up big time.

Go Mizzou!
In that case, whoever gets left out (OU or UT), they would get the chance to play the Bama/Florida winner for the championship. Which ever one loses to Mizzou would get left out of the BCS as Mizzou would get the auto bid and the one who didn't play in the Big 12 Championship game would get the at large bid (likely they would be BCS #2 once it is all said and done).

Nope, you can't, but at least it was on the last play on TT's homefield, not on a neutral field by 10.

As you can probably surmise, I am not a supporter of the BCS.  Anything to keep folks up in the air and mess with the BCS, I am for it.  We need playoffs.  Mizzou taking an auto would knock somebody else out causing more screaming.  It probably will not happen but I am hoping.

considering what has happened already w/the Sagarin, I believe OU is in REALLY good shape....
0.44 lead isn't huge considering there are several computer rankings figured into BCS. That needs to be +1. I'm also not sure what it was last week. I thought OU was ahead in the Sagarin rankings.

I'm with you. I think this whole system is garbage. It is better than it was but crap is still crap. The other thing is Boise State might get in as an at large as well. Utah is already in. Boise might get in under the "Ranked in the top sixteen and higher than another BCS Conference champion" part of the rule. Now when they wrote that rule, they probably only envisioned 1 team being high enough. However, this year, technically, you have 3 (Utah, Boise State & Ball State) based on that rule as of last weeks BCS rankings. Cincinnati is the lowest ranking BCS Conference Champ. Regardless, I think we could see some great games in a playoff and still incorporate the bowls into them.

EDIT: Only 1 non BCS Conference Champ can get an at large bid which will likely keep out Boise State & Ball State

Untrue on the last note; it simply requires a high enough ranking for one of the non-BCS teams to be an automatic qualifier (which Utah possesses).
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

That makes the case even worse.  How do you think a big conference team gets KO'd by Boise State and that conference will take it.  I hope this is like throwing gas on a fire.

did these coaches not know the rules for the bcs system before the season started?  if not then they can come on tv and bitch about it but otherwise they get mucho millions to play by the rules their schools agreed to so shut the hell up.  this debate will go on endlessly until a true playoff system is put into place.

They all know and they all love the face time. I'm surprised Pete Caroll didn't call in last night.

I know this is a silly way of thinking but

Texas lost their toughest road game (at Texas Tech)
Tech lost their toughest road game (at OU)
OU won their toughest road game (at OSU)

Now the champion of the division is probably going to play for the national title in a staduim closer to either SEC school so there will be more fans rooting against you. Do you want the team that wasn't smart enough to double cover one of the best recievers in college football on the last play of the game? Do you want the team that was totally intimated on the road? Do you want the team that went to a place that hates you more then they love their own team and won by 20?

this is just more proof that the national championship should be decided on the field with a playoff system..every year some team(s) get screwed.

I realize that.  I'm just tired of all the hipocracy saying TX should go because they beat OU head up, ignoring that they lost to TT head up.  I think OU should go, because of the three head to head matchups their win was the most convincing.

Of course I'm an OU fan, so this won't be read. However, if you look at the entire season, strength of non-conference schedule, and all OU deserves to be in the championship.  Not to mention the fact that we beat a RANKED team at THEIR Home, not a supposedly neutral field.  Plus, we decimated TECH, decimated them.  Did you see how they were playing against BAYLOR after we pummeled them?

Yeah, Tech was decimated and that's why Baylor almost beat them at home.

Actually, I think OU beat TTech because Texas limbered them up several weeks before their game. They should have taken into account the "limber up" factor in those BCS computers.

Too bad OU wasn't good enough to beat UT on the field, but I guess being better on a computer means more.

LOL, this whole thread is a testament to why in the old Southwest Conference and since Arkansas only beats Texas about as often as Oklahoma State beats Oklahoma. Until you learn to hate Texas with a passion.  To hope that they NEVER win anything, anytime, anywhere for any reason will you develop the will and desire to be consistenly giving them hell.  I have no idea why most of you hate Oklahoma.  It's not like they play Arkansas every year and get the bejesus beat out of them.  Going back at least as far as Jim McKenzie [who actually first put the OU logo on the helmets] thru Barry Switzer until the present day Arkansas and Oklahoma have always had a very cordial relationship.  I don't know if Stoops has any relationship with Petrino, but I have never heard any Oklahoma fans talk about Arkansas the way Arkansas talks about Oklahoma.  To be truthful I rarely hear Oklahoma fans even mention Arkansas.  Just think if there was no Oklahoma how many more great players Texas and Texas A&M would have!  Oklahoma took the 1, 2 and 3 rated players out of Texas last year.  I follow the old creed that my favorite team is whoever is playing Tex ass.

I'm mad, not crazy.

By the way, did you miss a few years back when OU and Ark were picked to play in a bowl game and Stoops complained that OU deserved a more worthy opponent?  (They beat us 10-3, as I recall.)

I hate Texas and OU, but UT a lot longer, about 40 years.  But as a football fan, I still hate to see a process where being the victor on the field isn't the most compelling tiebreaker, like it is in the SEC, incidentally.

But, like I said, it's because I"m a fan and we need a playoff.  I'm not going to lose any sleep over Texas.

You sir are making no sense. I live in Oklahoma but I am a Razorback fan. However, I have enough common sense to see why OU jumped Texas and "head to head" has nothing to do with it. Just remember, the team that OU pummeled and I do mean pummeled, beat Texas as well.

How many wins does Texas have against BCS ranked opponents? OU has more. How many quality wins away from home against BCS ranked opponents does Texas have? ZERO. OU-1 Who had the stronger season schedule after the fact between the two? OU, period. THIS is why they got jumped. You can root for Texas if you want to because you have some latent homerism for the former Southwest Conference or because we played Texas and they handed us our arse's........which I still don't understand. I'll never root for Texas except when they play USC or Notre Dame, otherwise, that is it. You guys hang onto an illogical argument when it is clear as day why Texas was jumped, despite ESPN's and Mack Brown's lobbying. Given all of this, it would not be justifiable for Texas to be in the Big 12 CG or the NCG.
