Is Devwah transferring out?

I've been told by a couple of guys that they heard he's on his way out. Any truth to this?

redeye

There were rumors of this a few weeks ago, but they were due to some idiot making wrong assumptions.  I believe his father has been very supportive of the new staff on twitter, so I can only assume this is not true.

I was assuming this as well. However it doesn't look good with juco RB.

He hosted and was tweeting Boyd, I believe he is all in.

I thought I heard he also used his own time over the Christmas break to do some speed training and drop a little weight.  Sounds to me like a plan that would put him all in with the new staff.

I think brining Boyd on may have more to do with TJ Hammonds and Chase Hayden.  I am not even saying they move from the RB position, but they may look completely different than the every down type of back that Devwah is.  I would expect to see them in more of a hybrid/flex type of role coming out of the back field to catch passes and being split out wide on occasion.  This would facilitate the need for another every down back type of guy for depth purposes.

Not to get off topic with this, but the idea of having Devwah and TJ in the backfield at the same time in an RPO situation could be pretty freakin sweet.

With the offence we will be running, we will need to rest the running backs. There for we need more running backs.

We will often be in two back sets.  We need at least all the backs we currently have plus Boyd.  Instead of single back or Fullback and tailback, we will actually have two tailbacks on the field at the same time frequently.  Also, the way Morris likes to use motion, shifts and multiple formations, having a guy like TJ is gold.  He is a legitimate threat anywhere on the field.

Cinco de Hogo

Yep most of our backs will need to be able to catch a pass out of the backfield.

Can we immediately trash and ban posters who post bull like this with no solid proof?

There are some atrocious threads started daily on Hogville, but threads about an extremely good player transferring with absolutely 0 evidence are above and beyond the worst.

RaisinHog

I mentioned it a while back " the idiot " that was mentioned above since then it has become pretty clear that was not at all the case as uncle Terry and devwah have been very pro Arkansas .. via Twitter.

Devwah was at the early morning workout this morning.  If he were leaving, why would he be getting up at 5 AM?

Hog Fan...DOH!

I don't know if some know this, but RBs get hurt.  A lot.  Boyd has 3 to play 3.  He adds depth and experience to a position that needs both.  The previous staff recruited a RB, too.

Let's talk about important things like uniform color.

Agreed.

Yep. If you work somewhere that starts around 5am or so you notice when guys put their 2 week notice in. . . They usually don't finish it.

We have two backs that have prototypical size. That's not enough. That's why they went after a JUCO back.

Might want to transfer after a few practices in Morris' offense. Looked very out of shape and slow last year.

Probably more to do with the previous staff wanting him at a weight that didn't work for him.  He attended one of the speed specialist camps over Christmas break on his own time and on his own dime, specifically to get faster and drop some weight.  His dedication to being in shape shouldn't be questioned at this point.

zebradynasty

He looked slow because he was using BB's diet plan! Whaley was two heavy had nothing to do with not being in shape. I can't imagine him leaving now. He is the featured back once he loses the weight he'll fit this offense like a glove. But not if you want him at 230lbs!

First I've heard of this. Excellent news!

What?!? I in no way insinuated that he should transfer or said anything negative about the kid. I simply asked a question. I'm pretty sure you don't need "solid proof" to ask a question, as a matter of fact that's what I was looking for here. To say I should be banned for asking a simple question is the only thing in this thread that is "above and beyond the worst".

Devwah Whaley was a highly-sought-after, premium quality RB coming out of high school.  His talent, his public attitude and his work ethic are above reproach, to my knowledge.  We are extremely fortunate to have him, and I look forward to witnessing a wonderful performance surge by young Mr. Whaley.

Please don't "stir the pot" of controversy here by planting baseless rumors and /or innuendo which might potentially affect the level of confidence among devoted Razorbacks fans in our competitive level and player complement cohesiveness at this crucial juncture of looming wholesale change in coaching personnel and radically reordered schematic refocusing.
