FiveThirtyEight finally dabs into recruiting. Turns out over the past two seasons, even with them ending on disappointments, Bret is still coaching slightly above his recruiting.

Makes you wonder how far into the top 20 he'd be if we had even won our last two games last season. I still believe Bret is about as good as we'll be able to get with recruiting/retention/coaching prowess.

They could only take in the data from the last two seasons, as apparently 247 has a team ranking systems that I never even knew existed which is super telling. Glad this is already in the works, as I was starting to begin to make my own index to try and show the same thing. My only knock on this composite is that it doesn't weight freshman vs seniors differently.

That's some interesting data.  Thanks for sharing.  I'm going to go digest.

Every team in the SEC recruits better than Arkansas other than Vandy & KY, sometimes Miss St. (if you go by the recruiting rankings). Based on that I think Coach B and the staff do well. Now, it would be nice to recruit like AU, LSU, FL, TN, GA, for a year of two and see what he can do with that amount of talent.  One the other side, I think this is why Butch Jones and Kevin Sumlin are in trouble, too much good talent not turning into 10-2, 11-1 seasons. Jones always complains about their injuries and not enough good players when they lose.
