Because we have 75 players on campus on scholarship

Thats not how it works. We cant sign all 25 because we will go over our 85 total scholarships.

you do realise they get to go to school still, right? And, yes, thats exactly what every other school does. Surely you dont think it's possible for ALL of the kids to be excelling in the program and actually worthy of a scholarship, right? What kind of socialist ass darn is this; you want us to keep the chaff for charity lmao.

Agreed. Mind bogglingly dense if serious.

Serious question.. since we want sign a full class this year we could potentially sign a large class next year and count some back if the room opens correct?

Well one has to consider that in the case of the two above mentioned programs police blotters normally take care of the numbers. ;) 8)

so why don't Coach Morris kick off some not that qualified player? does he need more time to evaluate them?

If they enroll in January 2019 then they can count back to this class. So yeah, if they wanted to could sign over the "25",course depends on where you are at on the 85 number everyone seems to be overlooking for this class.   Just cause you can sign 25 doesn't mean you have room under the 85.

so the three enrolled in this year will count back to 2017 class, then we don't even have 15 yet.

Did we have any spots available in the 2017 class?  I think we had a full 25 that year, so no, they wouldn't count back.

I don't remember how many we signed in 2017 and if those 3 can count back. It gets kinda sketchy if you don't keep up with what happen last year and year before.
Lets say they can count back and we sign 18, then technically we only signed 15 for 2018 class and if you sign 10 that can enroll in Jan 2019 then you could possible sign 35.     But you got to have room under the 85.

I could be wrong but that's they we way I understand it and typing fast and multitasking creates bad grammar

This is the issue with redshirting especially with guys that aren't going to contribute for 3 years. 85 is the NCAA cap. The SEC has a 25/year cap thanks in large part to Nutt's first class at OM. Morris is somewhat handcuffed by the scholarships already on campus AND the early signing period.

CBB spend a lot of effort in recruiting on character.  We also now have the Jerry and June Jones academic center.  Combine multiple issues, and we simply do not have the turnover.

Contrary to everything written on this board, CBB did not do everything wrong.  Hopefully, CCM carries on what CBB did well, and improves what CBB did poorly.

Not sure that EVERYTHING written on this board claims that CBB did everything wrong. However, what he did poorly-lack or player development, poor/inadequate/nonexistant in-game adjustments, lack of effective player usage, etc.-are what sunk his coaching career on the Hill. And those factors can't be realistically disputed.

We have 75 and signed 15 so will Morris have to cut bait????

Agreed.  I think the underlying issues were several weak spots in his staff: Anderson, Segrest, etc.  He did not make good decisions hiring asst coaches.   The result of poor hires led into those factors you listed.

No. It looks like simple math. I don't think you missed anything? Let's reverse engineer it. 25-10=15. Is that correct? If there is a Mathematician on the board maybe he could help us out.
Quote from: 1990sHogBallChild on March 04, 2023, 04:08:32 pmWe have peaked... lucked his way to two elite 8s by getting the most favorable draws in tourney history. Beat the most over-rated 1 seed in the history of college basketball in Gonzaga who would be a 6 seed if they played in a real conference. Then Muss's other 5 tourney wins are against an average of a 12 seed. A few dozen coaches could have done that. Two losing records in SEC play is as much as MA had in 8 years.

Pretty spot on. Player usage and lack of game-time adjustments were so frustrating. I actually believe he developed players for what he intended...smashmouth football. But...then he realized it doesn't work that way unless you've got the biggest horses. But never utilizing certain players was just mind boggling.

This is all what makes me so excited about CCM. He is no ones buddy and wants to win. Best players play. Great football mind who should be able to mold the scheme throughout a game. Should be fun to watch.

The bottom line is Bielema didn't win enough games as head coach and apathy was setting in.

That's the headline of why he is not our coach anymore. He didn't win more games because he couldn't adjust during games. Just think of how many games we would've won had we not had 4th quarter collapses. I'll tell you this. He'd be a top coach in the SEC if he could've figured that out. He was very good at coming out of the gates and guns blazing and building a lead. But the inability to switch strategies on the fly was what caused the losses...which led to his downfall.

God people!  Bret Beliema IS GONE!!!!!!!  Get over it, already!!!!  The point being made is that, despite your bias against him, he did a fantastic job of retaining players and NOT have a lot of attrition.  To be successful at Arkansas, you have to retain your players.  Kudos to coach for keeping players on campus and not recruiting losers who are getting arrested and failing classes.  Now, hopefully, these players will develop into the kinds of players Chad Morris needs to be successful on the field.

That's it you people! No more! He's not our current coach. Hogget has SPOKEN! I better not hear any more about these old coaches who aren't current either. If I hear a word about Petrino, Nutt, Broyles, Ford, Holtz, etc and etc. What if it's a compare and contrast? No! What if what these coaches still have a lasting effect on us today? No!!! He did a great job of retaining players, so great that in his 5th year he went 4-8 and got himself fired.
