The KBA is the place to be tonight as the Nike EYBL event rolls on. Kenny Payne, Alex Poythress, Tyler Ulis, and Marcus Lee are all on hand to watch Malik Monk play tonight. Monk is one of the top prospects in the 2016 class, and John Calipari visited him on Tuesday. Looks like they're making recruiting a team effort tonight.

Devin Booker is also in attendance, although not pictured.

A few current University of Kentucky basketball players joined Wildcats past and future in Lexington on Friday night for the start of the final open recruiting period of the spring.

The Nike Elite Youth Basketball League is in town for the first time, bringing with it many of UK's priority recruits. EYBL alums Devin Booker, Willie Cauley-Stein, Marcus Lee, Alex Poythress and Tyler Ulis were all at the Kentucky Basketball Academy to see it.

Former UK players Travis Ford and John Pelphrey were among the coaches in attendance, a group that did not include John Calipari.

Only 300 fans at a time will be allowed into each session this weekend to prevent overflowing a venue that already has hundreds of players, coaches, parents and media members. As fans leave throughout the day, others will be permitted to enter.

Assistant coach Kenny Payne was UK's representative in Lexington, and he watched class of 2016 stars Harry Giles, Jayson Tatum, Malik Monk and Udoka Azubuike.

Nike EYBL: 2016's Jayson Tatum, Malik Monk lackluster in latest clash

The last time Malik Monk and Jayson Tatum faced off on the basketball court, the two University of Kentucky recruiting targets combined for 76 points in front of John Calipari.

That was in a high school game back in November. On Saturday night, UK's coach was back for a Round 2 that failed to live up to the hype.

Monk, who scored 45 points in that first game, managed 19 points and made only three of his 13 field-goal attempts Saturday, but his Arkansas Wings squad defeated Tatum and the St. Louis Eagles, 78-69, in Nike league action in Lexington.

Tatum was the top scorer in the rematch with 20 points, but he went 4-for-13 from the field.

The two five-star recruits combined to go 25-for-27 on free throws, each missing one.

The off nights won't keep Calipari from calling.

Monk and Tatum are two of UK's top priorities in the class of 2016, and there was a clear presence of blue and white Saturday night.

Canadian point guard Jamal Murray is planning several college visits in the coming weeks but still has no timeframe on a decision about reclassifying to 2015 from 2016...

Roger Murray is keeping information very close to the vest and won't reveal when or where his son, a 6-foot-5 point guard out of Orangeville Prep (Ontario), will take visits.

Kentucky and Oregon are among the schools working hard to land Murray, with UConn the latest school to offer.

Kentucky already has two point guards next season in rising sophomore Tyler Ulis along with incoming McDonald's All-American Isaiah Briscoe of Roselle (N.J.) Catholic.

"You want to play and to get better with other players and obviously get time to play," Roger said. "That's why there's not a rush because you gotta really look at everything."

Mario Kegler   SF  6'7"  4 Star

Sedee Keita   PF  6'10"  4 Star

James Banks   C  6'10"  4 Star

If he lands Simmons, Langford, and Dixson, the following will be his main Guards in 2016.

Those Guards will be a tough matchup for opposing teams.

Murray drew increased interest from Kentucky and Duke after he scored 30 points to lead the World Team to the Nike Hoop Summit title over the U.S. last month and then dropped 29 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds in a loss in the BioSteel All-Canadian All-Star Game in Toronto on April 14.

Meantime, it remains unclear whether Murray will reclass to 2015 or remain in 2016. He is currently projected as the No. 21 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft by DraftExpress.com, meaning he could either go pro after one year in college or go straight out of Orangeville Prep in 2016.

"It's a process, man," Roger Murray said. "We're not leaving any stones unturned, just going through it till the end."

Days after announcing that he would reopen his recruitment, 2016 shooting guard LaGerald Vick has set three visits for the next week.

According to Rivals.com the Memphis native, who originally committed to $MU, will visit Kansas State, Kansas and Kentucky over the next seven days.

When Vick committed to SMU he was expected to take a prep year, thus pushing him into the Class of 2016. But with his decision to reopen his recruitment, it was also reported that Vick is considering a move back into the 2015 class.

As for Kentucky, the Wildcats lost three perimeter players among the seven who decided to turn pro in twins Aaron and Andrew Harrison and freshman Devin Booker. Kentucky returns Tyler Ulis and adds Isaiah Briscoe, Charles Matthews and junior college transfer Mychal Mulder, but there's till a need for depth.

Not sure if Vick is going to reclassify to provide depth.

"At this stage, I am hearing so many options for Thon but his focus is finishing high school and enjoying playing with his brother and friends," Smith said. "It is very simple that way. At 6-6, 218-pounds, Miles Bridges is one of the most physical scorers in 2016. The punishing scorer listed his top five schools

Kentucky, Michigan State, Michigan, Iowa State and North Carolina are the five schools Bridges, who is out of Huntington (W.V.) Prep, is focused on. All but North Carolina, who just started recruiting Bridges, have offered.

Iowa and Missouri are secondary schools who are also involved with him

MINNEAPOLIS – Jayson Tatum, the five-star guard out of Chaminade Prep (MO), has had an excellent spring.

Tatum, the top player in the Class of 2016 according to ESPN, led the St. Louis Eagles to a Division C championship within the Nike EYBL circuit, and a high seed at Peach Jam. The 6-foot-8 small forward averaged 19.5 points on 49.3 percent shooting, as well as 8.0 rebounds for the Eagles.

"It's gone real well, you know, we're 10-3 and playing in maybe the top division," he told SNY.tv in an exclusive interview. "All that really matters is that we go to Peach Jam and continue to play well,"

On April 10, Tatum narrowed his recruitment to four schools: Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Saint Louis...

Tatum has also visited Kentucky twice, both times unofficially.

"Coach Cal's a great coach and he has great assistants," he told SNY.tv. "I have a great relationship with their coaches. They offered me back when I was a freshman and have been recruiting me hard ever since then.

"I don't have a timeline for my decision or visits," he said. "I'm not sure when I'll take officials to Kentucky or North Carolina, but I'm sure I'll get to those. I don't know yet if I'll take an official visit to Saint Louis because I've been there so many times."

Tatum said that he'll commit to "wherever [he's] most comfortable," but also noted the style of play he hopes to participate in at the next level.

"I mean I'll play wherever coach needs me and where I can help the team out. I don't have a preferred system or role," he said. "But I do like getting up and down, and I think that fits me well. I also like playing a lot of pick-and-roll."
