QuoteAfter news of a felony warrant seeking Crimson Tide safety Deionte Thompson broke Thursday night, Nick Saban said he was excused from Friday's action. He will "cooperate with law enforcement in this matter," according to the statement released by the school.

Thompson was booked into Tuscaloosa County jail Friday. His booking information listed him as a "fugitive from justice."

Bama football player has a felony warrant in his name in Texas

QuoteSafety Deionte Thompson is among four men considered suspects in a spring break beating that occurred in Crystal Beach, Texas, according to KBMT-TV.

The report states police were investigating the beating of 18-year old Noah Frillou that took place March 18 in the beach town. His injuries, KBMT reported, included several broken bones in his face and a major concussion.

The warrants are for felony assault, the TV station reported.

Thompson's father responded to the news report on Twitter.

"I understand that journalists have a job to do. Just wait until you hear the truth. Trust me, the key word in the case is ALABAMA," Vester Thompson tweeted.

I can see now where all this is headed. Thompson and the rest of his crew of "bangers" will be found not guilty or even likely charged due to "circumstances beyond their control". In other words, the guy they pummeled will be found to have initiated the fight with at least these four and of course they were only defending their honor.

QuoteThere's video that shows Alabama defensive back Deionte Thompson kicking 18-year-old Noah Frillou in the head during a March incident in Crystal Beach, Texas.

An unidentified female said, "she observed two males kick Frillou while he was on the ground."

The Anniston Star:     One witness, an unidentified female, said after she saw Frillou "get punched and fall to the ground, she observed two males kick Frillou while he was on the ground." Officers identified the first man as 18-year-old Rufus Joseph, a football player at West Orange-Stark High School — Thompson's alma mater.

When officers moved the video forward to show the second man, the witness "clearly remembered this person's white Alabama hat."

According to the affidavit of probable cause obtained by The Star, Thompson was wearing a white Alabama cap backward, a white sleeveless shirt, and gray and red shorts on the day of the fight.

Nick Saban released a statement saying that information was still being gathered regarding Thompson's situation.

QuoteNick Saban released a statement saying that information was still being gathered regarding Thompson's situation.

Translation:  "We are trying to gather info on the witness, and video owner so we know who to make the checks out to"
This is my word, and as such is beyond contestation.

QuoteAlabama safety Deionte Thompson, who was arrested in connection with a spring break assault in Texas, is currently working out with the team, according to head coach Nick Saban.

"Yeah, he's here," Saban said Thursday at the Nick's Kids Foundation golf tournament in Vestavia Hills.

Thompson did not participate in the Crimson Tide's A-Day game. Warrants for felony aggravated assault were issued for Thompson, Morris Joseph, Rufus Joseph and Daletredricc Wlfford -- all suspects in a March 18 incident that reportedly left 18-year-old Noah Frillou unconscious and hospitalized with broken bones in his face. Thompson turned himself into Tuscaloosa County jail April 14.

"It seemed like a lot of nothing with everything we can find out about," Saban said.

Nick Saban releases statement on Deionte Thompson's legal situation

QuoteThompson, a redshirt sophomore, was indicted on charges of felony assault after a beach brawl during spring break in March, according to the Beamont Enterprise. Thompson, 20, was one of four men indicted by a grand jury. All four men were charged and bonded out of jail back in April.

"We are continuing to follow the progress of the legal proceedings in this matter," Saban said in a statement Monday. "We are not going to make any judgements until that process has been completed."

Thompson was at practice during Alabama's Monday workout.

Bama safety Deionte Thompson and three others have been indicted on charges stemming from a spring break fight in Crystal Beach, Texas

QuoteThompson was indicted on a felony aggravated assault charge, though the redshirt sophomore safety's camp maintains that he wasn't involved in the fight that left 18-year old Noah Frillou badly injured.

"We anticipated them coming forward with the indictment because that's the easy thing to do," Thompson's lawyer, Sean Villery-Samuel, told AL.com. "However, that's far from being able to convict him. We look forward to getting the evidence that they're relying upon. Nothing has changed on our end, but we're anxious to see the information that they're relying upon."

Thompson, who was arrested in April, is accused of kicking Frillou in the head while he was on the ground during the fight.

According to court records, a female witness showed police officers a video of two men kicking Frillou in the head and told them that she remembered one of them wearing a white Alabama hat, which police knew Thompson was wearing based on other videos they'd seen from that day.

However, several other witnesses have submitted formal statements stating that Thompson wasn't involved in the fight. In addition, Villery-Samuel previously told AL.com that he hasn't seen any video that shows Thompson participating in the fight or attacking Frillou.

Contrary to what's presented in court records, Deionte Thompson's lawyer says there isn't any video that shows the Alabama safety kicking alleged victim Noah Frillou during that large spring break fight in Crystal Beach

Quotehompson has maintained with his legal team and Alabama officials that he wasn't involved in the fight and didn't attack Frillou, who was badly injured during the fight.

"Before we made an official comment on his behalf, we wanted to gather all available information," Villery-Samuel said in a press release Wednesday night. "From the outset, Deionte Thompson has indicated that he was not apart of the assault of Noah Frillou and maintains that position even after this indictment. It is important for the community to remember that an indictment is simply an accusation of wrongdoing based upon the lowest legal burden in our criminal justice system and is not an indication of one's actual guilt.

"While the incident that occurred on March 18, 2017 was unfortunate, there are some things that must be made clear. Deionte Thompson was not involved in the assault of Noah Frillou, as many witnesses to the incident have indicated, and there is no video evidence demonstrating anything to the contrary."

Thompson was originally implicated through that video, which a female witness shared with police officers. According to court records, the video shows two individuals kicking Frillou in the head while he was on the ground. The female witness told officers that one of the individuals was wearing a white Alabama hat, which officers knew Thompson was wearing based on other videos from that day. But, according to Villery-Samuel, there isn't any video that shows Thompson attacking Frillou or even taking part in the fight.
