No matter what you think of the Morris hire, you can't say he isn't busting his ass to make this team better.

East TN HAWG

I don't know if the guy can coach a lick, but he appears to be a hard worker.  I can't remember a coach that we've had that worked harder than CCM.  He is not lazy.

Well, he does have plenty of ground to make up. But I like what he's doing. I'm still waiting for a couple big surprise scores. And I think they'll happen.

Refresh my memory, how many more can we sign?

Not to be that guy but Bielema garnered local and national praise for his recruiting efforts in year 1, and his statewide goodwill tour after he was hired.

For sure. Bielema also wasted a lot of time on recruits we had no shot at. He spent days in Utah recruiting Porter Gustin who was a USC lock and didn't have us in his top ten. Threw the damn kitchen sink at Devon White, Fulton, and Cleveland and in reality we weren't even close to landing them. So much wasted time on a said few we never had a chance at.

White and Cleveland had us in their top 3 at the end. In fact, Cleveland kinda made it sound like it came down to us and Florida. Rumors around White were he liked Arkansas a lot but his family pushed for LSU.

But you're right, CBB went waaaaaay out of the normal range for some kids, which was odd.

I was thinking the same thing, although I'm not sure Bielema was doing as much as Morris is now.  Bielema seemed to slow down later, though.

I think CBB was at a P5 school, so he was already recruiting players like Collins , Kirkland etc.  Pittman was at a P5 school, so he was already recruiting players like Skipper.  Our staff this year was at SMU and they were recruit players like Robinson.  The only coaches recruiting our caliber of players are Chavis and the other AM coach.

Morris is working his but off to catch up though.  It may take him a year to do it.

That's a great point.

And yeah, I think it's going to take him an extra year, early signing period hurt us for sure.

And Bielema brought Collins and, by extension, Kirkland with him. And he had a couple of nice little in-state kids to convince to stick around, particularly Henry.

Hmmm according to this article  Fulton was favoring bama and fla over Arkansas. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.seccountry.com/sec/lsu-signee-kristian-fulton-on-one-sec-rival-that-offered-too-late-to-be-honest-i-wanted-to-go-there/amp

White played us the whole way, his cousin J Red couldnt even get him here, what gave Bielema a chance? and Cleveland said after signing day even though we were one of his top schools he was never strongly considering coming here. I guess people just have different definitions of 'being close' on a recruit. But yeah CBB went all in on some kids and really never considered us.

His history says he can.  We just have to #hammerdown and go along for the ride.
