  • All of the above are very good.

For the best southern cooking you need to try Pop's on 15th St. (the old Ma Drakes)

I recommend lunch- order the 1/2 chicken fried steak -  a little pricey but the best I have ever eaten.

    Good southern vege's as well.

If you like Cajun-  hit Cafe Rue on north college-  try the Mumbo Gumbo.

  • I was visiting family in Fayettenam a couple of weeks ago and wanted to go to the Catfish Hole, but my family recommended a new catfish place in Goshen.

It's on Habberton Road off of Hwy 45 East.  It is called the Backwoods Barn.  Open only Thurs-Saturday evenings.

AND......it blows the doors off of the Catfish Hole!  I love the Catfish Hole, but this is the best catfish restaurant in NWA hands down.  Buffet style with skillet fries, okra, beans, corn, etc.  Price is around $7-8/person with drink and desert included.

If you haven't tried it.....please go.
  • #377 by Geohul on 21 Jun 2007
  • Remember if you're gonna go to Brenda's they're only open for about three hours everyday for lunch, and closed on Sunday's.  But I DO love those burgers.  As far as BBQ, I like Penguin Ed's (the crossover location) alas they don't do fried pickles there anymore, but my dad who is a BBQ connoisseur swears by Boars Nest out on Wedington Rd in Fayetteville.  I haven't been there yet because I'm hooked on the hot sauce Ed's uses.  For a good steak try Doe's on Dickson, or Hermans.  If you like GOOD Mexican in Fayetteville I always do La Huerta (on college next to ta ta bar), and in Rogers I do Abuelo (near Malco Towne Cinema).  Have a safe trip!

  • Monte Ne chicken can't be beat for fried chicken.

Guido's is probably my fav. pizza IN NWA.

I always enjoyed eating at Brioso Brazil in Bentonville. (sp?)  But I'm told it closed recently.  You would never leave hungry.

But when it comes to steaks, burgers, tenderloin, etc....nothing around beats DOGALUM's grill.

Burgers Plus.  I loved that place in high school.  However I haven't been since then (9 years).  My brother went the other day, and said it was still as good as ever.  Prices still about the same and same people still working there.

The Fish House in Conway is my favorite catfish joint in the whole state.

I think they are, just named something different now.  Anyone who knows, does it still look the same?

This is not even a great restaurant in LR, it was just my favorite as a kid.  They had lights that looked like stars and a mariachi that would go around playing the guitar and singing.  They also had a great game room.

Like you, I haven't been there in years.  That is what I remember when going there when I was a kid.  The mariachi band used to scare the crap out of me.  I think that it may be Casa Villa or something like that now.

  • One of my favorite places is Bella Arte in Hot Springs.

Only bad thing about it is I usually go after a day at the track drinking and I can never remember which entrance I came in.
On more than one occasion I've spent hours (usually 15 or 20 minutes but seems like hours) wandering the streets of Hot Springs trying to remember where in the hell I parked my car!
