Save the money and get them a cheap rib eye if they like it well, they wouldn't notice the difference.

Just make sure to get the wagyu.

I've ordered some from Snake River Farms once before .  It was a ribeye filet.  It was pretty damn good.

I just can't do a 200 dollar brisket.  I'd screw that up for sure.

The last one i did was good, but over rendered. It stayed in the cooler too long. I think the trick is to do a whole packer, get it to 203*, then wrap in butcher paper for an hour (Aaron Franklin style). It probably would've been perfect. I was at least happy that the flat wasn't dry and the point was rendered down.

I paid $40 for it at Harp's in Conway.

Yeah, I can do pretty good usually.  I just can't chance a 200 dollar mistake.  Just too inconsistent.

IMO best steak I've had in the area is a little place in Gravel Ridge called Ropers. They do a great job of seasoning their steaks and the ribeye is cooked as close to perfection as you can get.

How along was that?  I have heard the same thing and I tried it about a year ago, it was what I assume one of those new applebee's 10 dollar steaks taste like.

SEC Country has consulted its sources around the conference to provide a definitive, 100 percent objective compilation of the SEC’s best barbecue restaurants.

Quote
Dawg Gone Good BBQ (Athens, Ga.)
Housed in a small former barber shop in the heart of downtown Athens

Honorable mentions: White Tiger Gourmet, Butt Hutt, Pulaski Heights

https://twitter.com/ronniebratcher/status/592004423414620160

Mike & Ed’s Bar-B-Q (Auburn, Ala.)

“You can smell our butts for miles”

Honorable mention: Byron’s Smoke House

https://twitter.com/oanow/status/718483619522609153

Pimanyoli’s Sidewalk Cafe (Baton Rouge, La.)
smoked brisket po’boy with cheese and grilled onions, or a brisket BLT. You can order a dozen or half dozen tamales filled with smoked pork and beef.

Honorable mentions: TJ Ribs, Smokin Aces

Fargo’s Pit BBQ (College Station, Texas)
Though technically about five miles down the road in Bryan

Honorable mentions: BBQ 13-0, Rudy’s Country Store, C&J’s

https://twitter.com/GBHunting/status/594144518632529920

Shotgun Pete’s BBQ Shack Columbia, Mo.

Honorable mentions: Dickey’s, Lutz’s

Southern Belly (Columbia, S.C.)
Southern Belly places heavy emphasis upon its sandwiches, which feature toppings like bacon, jalapeno and even grilled pineapple

https://twitter.com/Only_Food/status/760983671276965888

The best BBQ restaurants in each SEC town, part 2

Quote
Adam’s Rib Co. (Gainesville, Fla.)
There’s something to be said about a barbecue joint that serves breakfast

https://twitter.com/adamsribco/status/302574105473982464

Honorable mentions: David’s Real Pit BBQ, 4Rivers Smokehouse

Calhoun’s On The River (Knoxville, Tenn.)
Barbecue is great on its own, but BBQ with a view is even better.

https://twitter.com/MrandMrsSmithTN/status/763512259633086464

Honorable mentions: Dead End, Archers

Blue Door Smokehouse (Lexington, Ky.)
You’re not going there for the ambiance; you’re going there for a big plate of succulent, smoked meat.

https://twitter.com/dperkinsed/status/586199974230241280

Honorable mentions: Red State BBQ, Lyles BBQ Company, JJ McBrewster’s

Martin’s Bar-B-Q Joint (Nashville)
Martin’s is all about “whole hog” BBQ.

https://twitter.com/martinsbbq/status/722824993613041664

Honorable mentions: Edley’s & Jack’s, Peg Leg Porker

Handy Andy Grocery (Oxford, Miss.)
Old-school, minimalist lunch counters are already awesome.

https://twitter.com/robertsietsema/status/655433334680629253

Honorable mentions: B’s Hickory Smoked BBQ, Embers Biscuits and BBQ

The Little Dooey (Starkville, Miss.)
A “little dooey,” according to the restaurant’s web site, is a fun gathering of friends and family.

Honorable mentions: Two Brothers Smoked Meats, Dickey’s

Archibald’s Bar B.Q. (Tuscaloosa, Ala.)
local residents are mad about Archibald’s, a humble joint that has been serving the area since 1961

https://twitter.com/Roadfood123/status/706586423038713857

Honorable mentions: Dreamland, Sam’s Smokehouse

Try Max's Sports Bar in the South Main Arts District....One of the patrons told me that they draw a good crowd to the game because the owner is an alum.  It was raucous last year when I was there!  Of course, that was the Auburn OT game! :razorback:

Yeah go to Max's. If you are looking for something bigger I would try Hooters. Now that I think of it, the double j smoke house across the street from Max's has a really nice sports bar hidden upstairs.

Daiquiris Unlimited should still be in business in Shreveport/Bossier, Monroe, etc and then finding a drink in NOLA shouldn't be a problem.

There are plenty of places shortly after you cross the county line going to Shreveport.

The novelty is pretty cool, but I've never been impressed by the quality of the drinks.

TCU game: Where is the best place to park?
« Reply #17297 on: September 05, 2016, 12:49:15 pm »

I drove around the TCU campus on my last trip to Fort Worth.  I noticed some nice residential neighborhoods just north of the football stadium.  Is this a good place to park if you get there early?

Is there a Hogville gathering of any sort taking place?  The TCU basketball arena has a nice museum and a food court area with lots of TV's that looks out over the football stadium. Looks like a good place to hang out and watch football while waiting in the pre game hours.
