"Lame" Kiffin of TN made a comment that "we've gone six months without any of our players being arrested" and made it sound like that was some kind of major accomplishment.  Has it really gotten so bad that if no one goes to jail in six months we feel like our athletic department is doing a good job?

For Tennessee football, that's a once-a-decade thing.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Yes, it has gotten that bad in major college athletics.  Maybe it is because information gets out now and cops don't 'take care' of the situation with the head coaches like they once did.

Florida's program is worse than Tennessee's for thugs right now.  No coincidence they are winning.

It is bad all across the country.  Try looking in-house.

This is a 180 degree turnaround from Phil.  Crime down and GPA's up was the jist of Kiffin's statement.  When you run off the crap and have dedicated players, the entire atmosphere changes.  Petrino canned a few problem children and things seem a lot better.  Kiffin around a dozen or so gone.  We will have to wait and see if it continues.  I like the thug today and out and off the team tomorrow approach.  Some coaches dance all around the issue.  AKA Urban Meyer as you stated.  Saban is another to add to the list about turning his head and letting things ride.

Has it been six months since the hogs had an arrest? Did Bobby P go 6 months without an arrest? Just asking.

You know... people who live in glass houses and throwing stones...

Hey-- let's compare arrest records for programs.   You may have a single stretch 6 months (aided by the police refusing to act against Kentucky and Tennessee players relating to a gun incident), but we have a hell of a lot more stints of 6 weeks.     There's a reason it's called the Fulmer Cup, and not the Hatfield/Crowe/Ford/Nutt Cup.

You had me thinking you knew more than you do. Do you know how many times UT has "won" the Fulmer cup?
Do you know who started the Fulmer cup?
If you knew how silly you look to those who know UT has not EVER won the Fulmer cup and that it was started by Florida grads.
Also, the GPA is way up and off the filed behavior has gotten a lot better. I know all teams have off the field issues and that's why I don't get giddy every time a team I may not like has a kid arrested.

They've only won it once; they've been in the Top 5 more than any other squad, which is an accomplishment.

As usual, you make some pretty big assumptions about the impetus of the Fulmer Cup;  it originated with the offseason of 2005, and Tennessee's police blotter-- and by deign of their actions prompting the creation of the cup, they were honored as it's first loser.

Tennessee also shares the honor of most Top 3 FC finishes with West *** Virginia and Miami.

I don't think so. Also this is akin to when the Hogs were in the SWC and having a couple of Texas fans start something similar.

Any program is going to have issues because young men in college tend to be a rough group as a whole.

Tenn football has had issues way beyond the general college population.
