2012 FOOTBALL SIGNEES

Pos  Commit            24/7 ESPN  Rivals   Scout      Stats             Hometown        Status

1. OL Jeremy Ward        93    79     3*         3*      6'4", 280, 5.3   Pottsville, AR        HS
2012 Outlook: redshirt   Beyond: Starter
Jeremy is a fantastic OG that led his Pottsville team deep into the playoffs, losing to eventual 4A champion Pulaski Academy. Being an early/solid commit and an OL, he is an easy one to overlook as an anchor to this signing class.  Even though he committed early, it didn't prevent the nation's best schools from attempting to lure him away.  In fact, he held offers from the top four teams (mid-season) in the BCS: Alabama, OSU, LSU, in addition to the Hogs. Ole Miss threw their hat in the ring unsuccessfully, too.  On the next level he will turn into a menacing lead blocker for whichever back Petrino decides to play.  Jeremy is one to never slouch or take off plays.  You will see him put 100% into every snap and every block.  He will be a strong addition to another national championship contending Arkansas team.
Offers: LSU, Alabama, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Arkansas State

2. ATH Nathan Holmes    88    78     3*        3*       6'1", 175, 4.43   Port Arthur, TX     HS
2012 Outlook:possibly special teams   Beyond:situational receiver/back
Nathan was a very early commitment back in April, 2010.  It is likely a reason for the lack of offers and being unwaivering.  He led his Port Arthur Memorial high school team into the semi-finals of the Texas class 5A playoffs and a 13-2 overall record.  He shows versatility and quickness on offense, both as a receiver and a running back.  He was often used as the option back and would reel off a lot of yards every time he touched the ball.  He wasn't afraid to run between the tackles, often shaking the first and second defensive lineman to put a hand on him.  He was also used as a receiver for outlet passes where he'd rack up YACs.  Then other times still, you'd see him as a primary receiver.  His speed is genuine as you'd see DBs with an angle not even come close to catching him.  He is very quick to shift his hips and change directions, almost looking like a Joe Adams in the process. Nate is also a gifted track athlete. Not the 100 as you'd initially suspect, but in the triple jump.  His jumps of 43-47' we almost always good enough to earn first place in the meet.  It will be interesting to see exactly what Petrino will cultivate him to become.
Offers: no other reported offers

3. LB AJ Turner              90     45     3*        3*       6'3", 200, 4.5   Lepanto, AR         HS
2012 Outlook:redshirt/special teams role  Beyond: solid contributor
Another in-state early commit, Anfernee "AJ" Turner didn't have to worry about the drama of the recruiting process.  He led the state two years running with total tackles.  As a Junior he tallied 177 tackles and eclipsed that with 205 his senior year.  Out of the 382 tackles in two seasons, 52 of them were for a loss.  AJ is one of the true few in-state recruits to excel on defense. He has the frame to grow into a hard-hitting OLB, but has enough speed that you could see him play in the secondary.  It will likely take him a couple of years to catch on to the size and speed of the game at the SEC level.  But one thing is certain, he loves contact.  He doesn't shy away from hits or simply bump an opponent to the ground.  He wants to wrap up and smash the ball-carrier to the turf so hard that he has to register with the DMV as a Mack truck.  It was apparent early in the recruiting process that AJ wasn't going to waiver in his commitment, despite interest by LSU, Bama, Ole Miss, Tenn, and Nebraska. AJ is 100 Whole Hog.
Offers: Ole Miss, Arkansas State

4. OL  Cordale Boyd       84    79     3*        3*       6'3", 290,        Memphis, TN        HS
2012 Outlook: redshirt   Beyond:starting guard
Cordale helped lead his Memphis Ridgeway Roadrunners to a 9-4 record (7-0 league) and into the third round of the playoffs.  Due to a slow start and playing from behind, they weren't able to overcome the deficit to defeat the eventual state champs for class 5A.  Cordale is versatile enough to play either guard or tackle, but will likely only see time as guard at Arkansas.  The Hogs are getting a nasty player that is quick off the snap, and pops defenders with authority.  He has enough drive to run block into the second level and open paths for running backs.  It's a skill that isn't taught as easily as pass blocking.  Already making friends and spending time with Jeremy Ward, we will see that this class of OL will bond well and provide a lot of protection for the QB.  Though Arkansas hasn't recruited Memphis well the last few years, Cordale is one that is amped to be a Hog and is excited to represent the state to the West.  It wasn't for a lack of offers as you'll see.  He had plenty of offers to choose from.
offers:Duke, Ole Miss, UNC, Miss. St., Memphis, Auburn, Vandy, et al.

5. RB Donovan Roberts   87    79     3*        3*       6'0", 195, 4.5   Norman, OK         HS
2012 Outlook: redshirt/special teams       Beyond: situational back
Even with McGee gone, Arkansas was able to snatch one out of neighboring Oklahoma with an OU offer.  Donovan isn't necessarily a fast back or a big back.  He falls somewhere in between those descriptions.  He has three major attributes in his favor that had schools all around the country offer him.  Those are pass blocking, balance, and elusiveness.  He has the ability to run between the tackles or bounce to the outside.  He prefers contact to trying to run around a defender.  Defenders really have to wrap up to bring him down.  Often it took more than a single tackler to bring him down.  In his last two years at Norman High School, Donovan tallied 3,597 yards in 536 carries and 55 touchdowns. His high school team (the Tigers) finished with a 7-4 record and a 1st round exit out of the playoffs courtesy of semi-finalist the Owasso Rams.  Outside a possibility of playing on special teams, I foresee a redshirt year fro Mr. Roberts. He will in time develop into an excellent situational back.  One who will will get a shot at becoming a starting RB.  If things don't work in that position, he has enough size and speed to convert to the secondary.  But, it that were to happen, I don't believe he will be seen on the field much for a few years.
offers: Arizona, Indiana, Michigan, Oklahoma, Pittsburg, Kansas St

6. DE Jeremy Sprinkle     84    77     3*        3*       6'6", 210, 4.6   White Hall, AR      HS
2012 Outlook: Redshirt         Beyond: Two-deep rotation
No matter what service you look at, Jeremy is listed at 210-215 pounds.  He's a long ways from being SEC defensive end size, but has the frame to easily add the weight necessary in a couple of years to be an impact DE only limited by his drive and motivation.  Jeremy was a double threat at White Hall high school.  As a defender, he was very active and tallied 82 tackles, 25 for a loss, 14 sacks, 2 recoveries, and 7 pass deflections.  On offense he caught 45 passes for 834 yards plus 2 tds.  He even rushed twice for 66 yards and another td.  After losing their first three games, the White Hall Bulldogs ran the table in regular season and won in the playoffs until a third round stumble against Batesville.  Jeremy attended Bobby Petrino's football camp back in June, 2011 and earned the honor of camp MVP defender.  For a guy his size, he ran well by finishing 4th in the fastest man competition.  Even better, he got the difficult-to-earn scholarship offer and accepted right off.  There is still a chance Petrino could position him as a tight end, but his camp showing made it more likely he'll end up on defense.
Offers: Kansas, Louisville, Purdue, Mississippi State, Memphis, ASU

7. DE Brandon Lewis       81    79     3*       3*       6'5", 220         Memphis, TN        HS
2012 Outlook: redshirt             Beyond: Two-deep rotation
DE is a position Arkansas is growing deep at.  With that being said, it's most likely Brandon will get a much-needed redshirt year.  He is tall and long, but is underweight much like Jeremy Sprinkle.  It will likely be his third year before he will be a contributor and on the 2-deep rotation.  He needs  time in the weight room to build himself up to SEC size on the DL.  The only stat I was able to find on him was 11 sacks his junior year.  He, along with team mate Cordale Boyd, led his Ridgeway Roadrunners to a perfect 7-0 in conference and a third round appearance in the state playoffs.  They lost to eventual state champs Henry County, who finished an unblemished 15-0 on the season.
Offers: Miss, Miss St, Tenn, ASU, Memphis

8. WR Eric Hawkins          85    45      3*        3*      5'11", 172, 4.25  Longview, TX      HS
2012 Outlook: special teams/backup receiver            Beyond: starter
Talk about speed to burn.  Eric is one of the fastest high schoolers in the nation after recording 10.32" in the 100m and 21.1" in the 200m.  Speed like that will make it tough to keep him off the field as a true freshman.  I anticipate seeing him as a gunner on special teams.  He might have sure enough hands to land a spot as a replacement to Jarius Wright.   He helped lead his Longview Lobos to an 11-2 record, losing in a tight one to eventual class 5A state champion Dekany.  Eric caught 39 passes for 959 yards and 12 tds.  There is an obvious lack of offers for a kid this fast.  That is mainly due to his speed not being discovered until recently.  Most of his previous 40 times were in the 4.5 range.  It matters not since he stayed firmly committed to the Hogs since last July.  It will be exciting to see what's in store for this young man.
Offers: TCU

9. WR D'Arthur Cowan     88     80     3*        3*      6'3", 170, 4.53  Olive Branch, MS HS
2012 Outlook: backup                Beyond: starter
At last! Arkansas has been recruiting the fertile field of Northern Mississippi for years now with nothing to show from it.  They finally hit paydirt with the addition of an athletic WR with tremendous upside.  I may sound like a broken record, but Petrino is doing just that: recruiting and signing players with lots of upside.  What's more is Arkansas beat out in-state school MSU for his signature.  D'Arthur is a fierce competitor, one that isn't afraid of contact.  His love for contact makes him a prime candidate for early playing time, showing a willingness to block downfield and be a diversified team player.  He should develop into a clutch receiver that is an automatic reception much like DJ Williams was for the Hogs.    Being part of an historic program like Olive Branch, D'Arthur is used to winning.  This past season he helped lead his Conquistadors to an undefeated 15-0 mark, edging out Petal for the championship.  The team was gritty in that 6 of the 15 wins were by close margins.  Don't be surprised to see this young man end up a starter in 2-3 years.
Offers: Alabama, Miss. St., Memphis, LA Tech

10. WR Keon Hatcher       90     80     3*        4*       6'2", 195, 4.5   Owasso, OK        HS
2012 Outlook: Backup                     Beyond:Starter
Add yet another great steal out of our neighbor to the west for the coaches. Keon has mad skills as a reciever, deadly after the catch and extremely elusive.  he possesses coveted size and moderate speed.  He shines best while in the middle of traffic, making defenders look silly when they don't wrap up properly.  He helped lead his team to a 9-5 overall record last season, losing in the semifinals to Broken Arrow.  Keon tallied 1,600 yards in 100 catches and scored 20 tds.  That tops the 1075 yards on 75 catches and 9 tds his junior year.  Expect him to hit the field early with his skill set. There are a lot of receivers ahead of him at the moment, but expect to see him in some capacity like special teams.  He may break out later in the season and earn some playing time.  He is one to watch out for in the years to come!
Offers: Oklahoma St

11. CB Jared Collins          84      73      3*       3*       5'10", 170, 4.4 Tulsa, OK           HS
2012 Outlook: Redshirt       Beyond: 2-deep
If his speed is true, then we may see some special teams work out of Jared in his first year.  Secondary isn't all that deep this upcoming season, but I don't think we will see players forced to play before they are ready to take on NCAA's best receivers.  I would give Jared a year or two to work on technique before seeing any duty as a CB.  Booker T HS had a tough season last year going 4-6 with a first round exit in the state playoffs.  I have no stats on his senior year at Booker T to report.  Experience and maturity will give him an advantage in a couple years as he works his way into the 2-deep, maybe even as a starter.
Offers: Tulsa

12. DE Deatrich Wise        84      75      3*       4*       6'5", 230, 4.7 Carrolton, TX      HS
2012 Outlook: Redshirt       Beyond: starter
Arkansas has always relied on the giant state of Texas to supplement recruiting.  20 years in the SEC hasn't changed that strategy.  Arkansas got a gem of a defensive player in Deatrich Wise.  Deatrich is a blue-collar defensive lineman.  He plays hard every play and remains in constant pursuit of the unfortunate ball carrier.  He has a knack for escaping blocks and putting pressure on opposing QBs.  He could turn into another Jake Bequette type of player in the next few years.  He does need a year or two to build up to a prototypical SEC DE.  Offers to Vandy and Wake Forest show that he is no slouch in the classroom, either.  Others schools tried to come on late, but didn't stand a chance as the Arkansas staff did an excellent early evaluation and were on him before his star rose.  He was named district defensive player after exploding for 91 tackles and 17 sacks.  Deatrich lead his Hebron Hawks to a 6-5 record and a loss in the first round of the 5A state playoffs.
Offers: Arkansas State, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest

13. CB Ray Buchanan Jr     81      77     3*       3*       5'10", 176, 4.5 Suwanee, GA     HS
2012 Outlook: redshirt                 Beyond:2-deep
Ray's main recruiter was Steve Caldwell.  He always has an eye for talent and landed a nice prospect out of the Peach State.  It'll take 2-3 years for him to develop into a solid contributor on this defense that improves overall year by year. It is more of a testament as to what is being built at Arkansas than a slight on his talent.  As a senior, he had 52 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 14 pass breakups.  His Peachtree Ridge Lions reeled off 8 straight wins after an opening loss, but ended it on a 2-game losing streak (including 1st round of 5A playoffs).  Ray has numerous offers to second tier schools.
Offers:Ole Miss, Miss St, Maryland, Cinncinnati, Lousiville, MN, Purdue, and So. Miss

14. ATH Defonta Lowe       85      77      3*      2*      6'3", 185, 4.5  Bearden, AR       HS
2012 Outlook: redshirt/special teams         beyond: starter
Defonta quickly ended his recruitment when he landed the offer he wanted the most: Arkansas. He played a lot of QB and running back for the Bearden Bears, but most likely will project as a safety in college.  He helped lead his team to a 10-2 record, losing in the 3rd round in a 12-6 decision to EPC.  His athleticism should allow him to see the field in the not-too-distant future.  He may even get a shot as a true freshman, but will likely be put on the back-burner with the majority of the class.  It will be fun watching another south Arkansas boy become a man on the field over the next few years.
other offers: Arkansas State

15. DE JaMichael Winston   84     76      3*      2*       6'5", 226        Prichard, AL      HS
2012 impact: redshirt                                Beyond: starter
Arkansas hit the DL jackpot with the additions of Vigor high school team mates JaMichael Winston and Darius Philon. These two made the equivalence of an iron gate when it came to opposing offenses moving the ball.  They pitched 5 shutouts and another 5 times allowed less than 10 points.  Their three loses were by a combined 13 points.  They finished with a 12-3 record, advancing all the way to class 5A championship game. JaMichael was a tackling machine, with 129 tackles (29 tfl), and 24 sacks.  His weight is a little low for an SEC DE, so don't expect him to be thrown into the gauntlet this upcoming year.  He is already on campus and actively involved in voluntary workouts.  Expect him to gain 40 pounds of muscle over the next couple of years and become a formidible DE.
other offers: Clemson, Mich St, Kentucky, Miss St, Louisville, Syracuse, et al.

2012 FOOTBALL SIGNEES

Pos  Commit            24/7 ESPN  Rivals   Scout      Stats             Hometown        Status

16. RB Jonathan Williams    93     79      4*      4*      5'11", 205, 4.5  Allen, TX          HS
2012 impact: backup               beyond: starter
It's always exciting to project one of the top signees of the class.  Especially when they play in a skill position. Jonathan played in a difficult Texas 5A classification, playing mini-college teams like Euless Trinity.  The learning curve shouldn't be quite as steep for him as many of the other signees. He is built similar to a Felix Jones and hopefully will develop into a similarly exciting player.  For a big back, he possesses a lot of agility when given a little bit of space. Even if a defender gets a hand on Jonathan, it's no guarantee he will go down.  He can break tackles about as good as any player.  His senior season stats were 1194 yards and 13 tds on 177 carries.  As a receiving back, he caught 13 passes for 134 yards and 2 tds.  He helped lead his Allen Eagles to an undefeated 10-0 regular season. Unfortunately for them, the stumbled in the second round of state playoffs, losing to perinneal power Euless Trinity.  The Eagles finished with an 11-1 record. Expect to hear his name called plenty of times in the coming years as a Hog.
other offers: Baylor, Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin, Vandy, Mizzou, West VA, et al.

18. DE Austin Flynn            90     JC      3*       3*       6'4", 250, 4.6 Wilmington, CA  LOI
2012 impact: 2-deep              beyond: starter
Austin just looks like one of those players that will make it to the NFL and prosper.  He should make a quick transition to SEC and make immediate contributions.  The coaches will want to put a little more weight on him, so he will likely not see his potential until 2013.  But, he will provide some needed depth to allow frequent substitutions in 2012. Austin was a leader on his defensive unit at Los Angeles Harbor CC.  He had 45 tackles, 16 tfl, and 11 sacks en route to a 7-4 record on the season. He has 3 seasons to play 3.
offers: Oklahoma, Oregon State, Iowa State, Utah State

18. DE Taiwan Johnson      89     79      3*      4*      6'3", 240, 4.79 Manvel, TX     HS
2012 impact: redshirt                        Beyond: 2-deep
Taiwan will likely grow into a beast of a QB rush.  I could see another disruptive style of play like a Jamaal Anderson.  I have him conservatively listed as 2-deep in the future, but he could very well earn a starter role as a Junior.  He has a very quick first step and is very tough for any tackle to block him. As is most high school grads, his size isn't up to par for the SEC.  Expect him to take 2-3 years to build and hone his frame into beast mode.  He was a force to be reckoned with his senior season, leading his Mavericks to a 15-1 record, only losing narrowly to Aleto in the 4A state championship game in Jerry's World. Five games their defense held opponents to less than 7 points.  Taiwan racked up 97 tackles, 23 tfl, 13 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 3 recoveries.  He is no doubt an integral part of the next class that will continue the trend of stouter defenses.
other offers: Arizona, Arizona St, Boise St, Colorado, Ole Miss, Mizzou, Vandy, Ok. St., WVU, et al

19. S   Will Hines                86     75       3*      3*       6'0", 175, 4.5 Waco, TX         HS
2012 impact: redshirt/3-deep                     Beyond: 2-deep rotation
In a class that saw only one true safety signed, we all hope Will turns out to be a key defender in the secondary.  Between his height, speed, and offer list, one would believe he would no doubt be an asset.  He originally committed to the Missouri Tigers June of 2011. One visit to the Hill is all it took for Will. He decommitted one day and committed to the Hogs the next.  As a senior in high school, he lead his Waco team to a 7-4 record and a first round loss in the playoffs. He logged 38 tackles and 1 interception.  Will takes good angles and makes solid tackles.  He wraps up as opposed to bumping ball carriers.  He will easily work himself into 2-deep by his 2nd or 3rd year and could possibly garner a starting role.
other offers: California, Michigan, Missouri, Notre Dame, Okla. St., Texas Tech, et. al.

20. LB Vin Ascolese            79      74       2*     3*       6'2", 215, 4.6 North Bergen, NJ HS
Will not play this season.  If takes care of business will be part of the 2013 class.

21. WR Demetrius Wilson    83    JC        3*       3*      6'3", 180, 4.4    Glendale, AZ     JC
2012 impact: 2-deep/starter                 beyond:starter
Demetrius is a much-needed addition after the loss of three outstanding WRs.  He could step in immediately and provide instant depth at the position. He possesses good height and speed.  He gets off a quick initial step at the snap.  In two seasons at Glendale CC in Glendale, AZ he was productive to the tune of 80 catches for 1660 yards and 14 tds.  That is over 20 ypc.  He should fit right in with the high powered offense at Arkansas.  His time at Arkansas will be short, but he should leave an indelible mark on the program.
other offers: Tennessee, Arizona, Arizona St., Akron, Arkansas St., Utah St

22. LB Otha Peters              94      79       4*       3*      6'1", 221, 4.6  Covington, LA   HS
2012 impact: backup                             beyond:starter
Arkansas got an excellent true defensive player in Otha Peters.  Not only was he a great snag from the state to our South, we lured him away from fellow SEC member Tennessee. Arkansas has seen a payoff in recent years with efforts in Louisiana.  The state is rich with talent (more than LSU takes), so it only makes sense for the Hogs to land a couple good ones each year.  According to Maxpreps, Otha was the number one tackler in the state based on tackles per game and strength of schedule.  He was only able to play in the last 4 games but managed to rack up 58 tackles for an average of 14.5 tackles per game. He already possesses good size for a true freshman OLB.  I expect he may contribute early and often enough to letter this year and the next three years.
other offers: Tennessee, TAMU, Ole Miss, Arizona, Minnesota, Nebraska, Pitt, TCU, et al.

23. TE Demetrius Dean         89      80       NR       NR     6'3", 240    Fayetteville, AR
2012 impact: backup                       beyond: 2-deep
The surprise sigining of the class, Demetrius shows up as a late qualifier and joins the Hogs after not being able to in 2011. It was so far out of left field Rivals doesn't even have him listed in the 2012 class database.  You have to reach back to 2011 to get any information on him.  One of the first two commits of 2011 (along with Brandon Allen), Dean was originally committed as a WR.  But, his growth spurt in his senior season saw a position change to TE.  It was widely rumored he would be dropped for another WR, but actually ended up ineligible. If you remember, he was surprisingl offered as a sophomore.  He will be hard pressed to beat our Gragg and Tate for the first two spots at the position.  But, he does have very good hands and excellent agility for a guy his size.  Competition will once again be fierce as Arkansas is no doubt becoming a TE-U.  There is no rebuilding at the position, but reloading. Demitrius put on quite a show at the spring game, impressing the large crowd of fans gathered to watch their first "game" of 2012. He will no doubt be used heavily in his years at Arkansas with a shot at becoming All-SEC in time.
other offers: Tennessee (2011)

24. DT Darius Philon              88      79       3*       3*      6'2", 265, 4.78 Prichard, AL
2012 impact: redshirt                 beyond: starter
Alabama's loss is Arkansas' gain. Nick Saban asked Darius to grayshirt his first year right before National Signing Day.  A torn right meniscus in the state playoffs that later required surgery caused the Tide to pull back on the full ride offer. But even being from in-state, Darius wasn't about to stick around and see if he would ever get a scholarship.  Originally an Auburn commit, the Tide was able to flip him last summer. After the shocking news, it didn't take him long to find another school that welcomed him wholly along with his team mate, JaMichael Winston.  Arkansas has always taken a few risks with injured players.  He will no doubt redshirt this year and get 100% rehab from his injury and be ready to contribute the following year.  Leading his team to a 12-3 record, he sacrificed all by playing in the semis immediately follwing his injury.  It paid off in their upset victory over the high-scoring offense of Hueytown, holding them to a season low 20 points. They went on to lose in the finals due to no offense. The defense pitched 5 shutout over the season, only losing by a total of 3 points in their two regular season games. If he regains full strength, he will be force to be reckoned with, especially on the one game a year against Alabama.  He's another defender with All-SEC possibilities that we will enjoy watching in the years to come.
other offers: Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, Miss St, Texas Tech, Memphis, et. al.

25. WR MeKale McKay           89      45       3*        3*      6'6", 192, 4.41  Louisville, KY
2012 impact: 2-deep                      beyond: starter
The only reason he is last on this list is he was a surprise late addition to the party.  Not visiting until weeks after NSD and not signing until the month after, MeKale is quite a gem to add so late.  One of the best basketball/football players in Kentucky, he is one that could truly play two sports in the SEC.  I'm not sure if he will pursue it like Brandon Mitchell, but he certainly has the ability.  He has really shown out early this Fall and will be very hard to keep his tall, quick, athletic frame off the field.  Tom Lemming was impressed with him saying: "...he shows the uncanny ability to find the open seam and make the catch".  We might not have signed a phenom like DGB, but MeKale will be no slouch when it comes to making big time TD catches and sacrifice himself in traffic.  Not much is known about him because he only played his junior and senior seasons. His Moore Mustangs were not a very good team, finishing 4-7 on the season.  They got shut out 3 times and the other 4 losses were blowouts.  It will be fun to watch him grow under the tutelage of an SEC-caliber staff and catching passes from an All-SEC QB in Tyler Wilson.

Talked to a guy last night, and he said Calvin Barnett has a good chance of being the #1 JUCO player in the country next year.

Aston Martin 8 dude

I'm really concerned that we don't have anyone pledged for 2013 as yet.

Tha Rocketman

Wish Calvin would have redshirted so we would have him for three years.  But two is better than nothing.

who knows

im gonna go ahead and commit early to the hogs for the 2013 class...now i gotta go recruit some other 5* guys for our class...

Lets hope that he isn't the number one Juco in the Nation, right now we have him in the fold no need to invite the rest of the country to try and take him away from us......16th would be nice

Tom, thanks again for keeping up with these threads.  You do a great job.  If you are correct that Barnett redshirts this year, I don't think he will be the number 1 Juco.  That wouldn't allow for much hype at all.

I hope you are correct either way.  I am going to have a hard time waiting on him to show up on the Hill either way.  Do you think he will be a spring enrollee when he arrives?

My question, is Calvin doing good in school and on schedule to be able to transfer to UA?

incHOGnito

I think he said in a video interview on scout that he was on the 18-month plan, which leads me to believe he will be done in December of next year.

jpenrod1

We will get Barnett with three years to play two.

Im sure he will be a 5* or at least really close.

If we can start this class with Barnett and get Dorial Green soon afterwards, the class would be great already. Add to that a chance at the #1 QB in the country.

This class could be much better than any we have seen since Bobby got here.

Although it seems like we say that every year. At least this time we are coming off a 10 or 11 win season.

If Gus is still there, Pike is going to Auburn. Barnett didn't really put up 5* numbers. There are zero 5* JUCOs this year. Also, the last word I got was that Cobb wasn't an official commit yet.

Just got back from a no pads scrimmage out at the YMCA soccer fields in west LR...

Gotta say, saw some primo talent for the 2018-19 class.

Anyway, any news on that 2012 5* QB that we seem to be in on?  Are we really in on him, or is it just that he lists us as having offered?

Tom,

You should have one of the Mods sticky this to the top and maybe you could track it and update it as we go.  ;)

If I had to guess Cobb doesn't have a committable ofter yet.   BP may be waiting to see him at camp this summer and see how his grades and test scores are.  We have a ton of WR's and if we get Dorial-Green I look for BP to be more selective this next year on the number of WR's we bring in.

He could very well be the best WR to come out of Wide Receiver U. (Warren) He has an committable offer but has yet to pull the trigger. I believe it will just be a matter of time.

Quote from: 1990sHogBallChild on March 04, 2023, 04:08:32 pmWe have peaked... lucked his way to two elite 8s by getting the most favorable draws in tourney history. Beat the most over-rated 1 seed in the history of college basketball in Gonzaga who would be a 6 seed if they played in a real conference. Then Muss's other 5 tourney wins are against an average of a 12 seed. A few dozen coaches could have done that. Two losing records in SEC play is as much as MA had in 8 years.

I thought the 5* QB we are in on wants to play in a pro style offense not the spread like Auburn runs?

josh_sec33

Tom, don't current juniors have to wait until after NSD for the seniors to (officially) verbally commit to a class, or is it just because on Thursday, coaches start sending out scholly offers?

Basically I'm asking how does the transition from one year to the next work?

Wonder if AJ Turner will commit? Was offered, plus Ky Madden is headed that way. Would be good pickup at LB.

Wouldnt Evian Hill be considered a 2012 commit?
