I knew Dave's son back then. You are correct. Frank got him fired as Voice of the Razorbacks. There were some circumstances and "battles" going on between TV stations in LR at the time. KATV did not like the fact the KARK guy had been given the Voice job. Paul got the job at KATV.

Neither Dave or Sam Smith ever looked comfortable being on channel 7.  Following Bud Campbell was tough plus Woodman was so identified with KARK.  And the public announcement of his firing from being the Voice of the Razorbacks was very abrupt.  It either the end of the 76-77 basketball season or just before it ended.  By late March/early April, Sam Smith was the new SD @KATV and Voice of the Razorbacks for his one year.
