NBA's Udonis Haslem -- Buys Miami Pad ... For Woman Who Raised Him http://dlvr.it/BbYtB7

QuoteThree time NBA champion Udonis Haslem just did something pretty awesome ... he bought a pretty sick 6 bedroom home for the woman who raised him ... just to say "thank you."

FYI -- the Miami Heat player's biological mother Debra battled drug addiction when Udonis was a child ... so he was raised by his stepmother ... Barbara Wooten.

Now, we've learned Haslem has hooked up Barbara with a brand new $326k pad in Miami Gardens -- it's 6 bedrooms, 4 baths, 3,640 square feet ... and  Haslem foot the bill.

From today's Tribune: Former #Mizzou standout DeMarre Carroll reaping reward for years of hard work http://www.columbiatribune.com/sports/mu_basketball/former-mu-standout-carroll-reaping-reward-for-years-of-hard/article_49170875-41e8-5eb1-8d3b-6ce7390b756e.html ...

Carroll's understandably excited about joining the Raptors and not just because of his four-year, $60 million contract.

DeMarre Carroll: "Coach (Dwane) Casey basically said he had a man crush on me. That made me feel good for a coach to want you that bad."

QuoteWalker lost $110 million through bad investments, extravagant spending and supporting family and friends.

This week he talked to the participants in the Senior Bowl about how to avoid the same mistakes that he made.

"I want them to hear everything — the good side of what the money did for me, and also the bad side," Walker said via The Boston Globe's Ben Volin. "Obviously, I didn't play football, but I understand you're chasing your dream. Also, just the fact that once you make it, you're in the real world, you're making real dollars. There are a lot of people that will be coming and pulling at you, and you've got to be prepared for that."

Udonis Haslem believes he can still play

Miami Heat apparently agree

QuoteThree-time NBA champion has signed a one-year, $2.3 million deal to remain with the Heat for what will be his 15th season. Haslem was already the longest-tenured player in Heat history, with all of his NBA seasons coming for his hometown team.

Among active players, only Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili have spent the entirety of a career spanning at least 15 years with one franchise.

"It is a great, great, day to have Udonis Haslem sign a contract for his 15th season with the Miami Heat," team president Pat Riley said Thursday

Former Kentucky Wildcat Nerlens Noel reportedly down $66 million after signing new contract

QuoteNoel has agreed to a $4.1 million qualifying offer to stay with the Dallas Mavericks. However, Noel reportedly was offered a 4-year, $70 million deal when free agency began July 1. He declined and then saw his market dry up over the last few months.

Last summer, NBA teams recklessly spent their cap space on long-term deals for players of all positions. But this summer, with significantly less cap space across the league and the looming free agency of LeBron James, Paul George and others, teams were more responsible with their money. Noel was one of several players hurt by the lack of cap space across the NBA this offseason.

The former Kentucky star averaged 8.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game last season.

Noel will have a chance at signing a bigger, longer deal next offseason.

QuoteMETAIRIE, LA.
Anthony Davis swatted away the notion that his decision to hire new representation meant he was setting the stage for a change of scenery.

With three seasons left on his contract and five All-Star nods to his name, Davis' leverage to control where he plays is growing. So when he recently left the Wasserman agency that negotiated his current contract and joined Klutch Sports, which also represents Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, it begged questions about the reasons for the switch.

The move also stoked paranoia in New Orleans, the city Chris Paul left in his prime shortly after he changed [State Farm] agents.

But Davis said the move was aimed primarily at helping him become the "the most dominant player in the league."
