Despite some obvious maturity deficiencies that have been pointed out ad nauseum, if you simply look at his body of work over the last 4 years...he's kept his nose clean (minus his Twitter trolling, which is sorta remedial marketing).  He put up with Saban and matured some in the process, leading 3 straight new QBs to record setting campaigns.   If he stayed for the Clemson game last year instead of turning the team over to Sark, maybe the Hurts disaster doesn't happen.

His maturity issues and the coaching carousel probably landed him at FAU vs. getting a higher profile job.  He took over for Patridge (remember him?) at FAU after consecutive 3-9 seasons...and won 10 games, going undefeated in Conference USA. 

Is he a risk?  Sure... But the upside of the immediate impact he could have here would be monumentally stupid to ignore.
