5-4 State Vernado just picked up his first with 17:20.  Wash has a big lunk (Brockman) underneath that may be able to push Vernado around, but he has blocked or altered a few shots already.  Crowd is decent but not as loud as you would expect in Portland, but it is only 2:00 out there.  State seems to be picking up more fouls than Wash.
Little known fact, but prior to settling on Guantanamo, the Pentagon wanted to house terror suspects at War Memorial Stadium.  It was deemed to be cruel and unusual punishment and in violation of the Geneva Convention.

I hate how Overton for Washington plays.  He plays defense with high intensity, but he's always flopping and grabbing the other team's jersey to try and get a call.  It's a cheap way to defend.  So far, the refs got him with trying to grab an MSU jersey and then gave him a call when he flopped guarding the ball.

MSU is doing well.  I was worried about how they would crash the boards, but they seem to be playing with intensity.  This game figures to be quite chippy.

I think Bost needs to back Overton down and outphysical him.

Be thankful you have the game.  Its not on in NWA.  They are showing Inside Edition instead.  Very Frustraiting.

One of the managers from the Mississippi State team should have slipped into the Washington locker room and painted their jerseys red and stenciled "Arkansas" and a little hog on them.

Mississippi State would have been raining threes and been up 20 by now.

My bracket is perfect so far... and I picked Miss. St. to win this one.  Hopefully they will start playing better.

YOU should be thankful.  In central Arkansas Ellen is on.  The emasculation of America is complete.

WMHawgfan

state is getting owned without varnado in there.

SEC was a few-whistles league this season.  Varnado doesn't have that laxity in this game.
[CENSORED]!

The Hogfather

Yep.  They're calling this a lot closer than the SEC officials did all year.  That's going to be trouble for MSU, if it keeps up.

Vanardo has played a grand total of six minutes.

I knew I should have never picked State this game.

The Hogfather

On a horrible call to end the half.  MSU only down 11.  MSU shooting 30% overall and 22% from 3.  I expect them to shoot a lot better in the 2nd half.  As long as they stay out of foul trouble, they should get back in the game.

dhornjr1

State played just about as bad as you can play and they're only down 11 at the half. And that includes that bullshirt three point play to end the half.

If the refs call it straight instead of getting caught up in the crowd, this game is not over by a long shot.

Table Rocker

Brockman hasn't played that much either. Need UW to hold on, got them making an elite 8 run.

The Hogfather

Brockman sucks.  I have Washington beating MSU and losing to Purdue.  Not sure about that pick after watching them earlier.  Looked shaky.

Table Rocker

Oh and I don't feel sorry for MSU, finally having a game they don't shoot 80 percent from 3's. Having a tough time finding a way to score. Live by the three, die by the three.

I think this was one of those high risk, high reward picks.  If MSU was shooting well from the 3 point line, things would be a lot different now.  MSU is a good team if they're on, because despite their size disadvantage, they hustle and can play bigger than they are.  Also, they were on a hot streak during the SEC tournament.  Obviously hot streaks end, but it's not too much to think that it might have continued for another game.

On another note, now that I think about it, a lot of teams that have made runs in their conference tourneys to get NCAA bids have not performed well in the tourney itself.  Think Stan Heath's last Arkansas team, Arkansas in 2000, Georgia last year, etc.

Again, it's only halftime and MSU shot 30% from the field and 22% from 3.  There's another half for them to get to their averages.  This game could get very interesting.

Yeah I know its not over.just making an observation

I know.  I was just commenting on your observation.

The Hogfather

Stupid move by Stansbury coming out of the half, trying to "establish his big".  That's not what they're good at.

It's a little early to say it's over....but....

No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

The Hogfather

Tough position.  I'm pulling for the SEC, but need Washington to win for my bracket(s).

I'd say so, unless they get hot.  They haven't hit chit today.  Not really like them.

rzrbackrob

Miss St is done unless they shoot 70% from 3 point land from here on out.
Good is the enemy of great

MSU in big trouble now.  Varnado has 4.

Looks like Brockman has a basketball stuck in his nose.

Me too.  I'm cheering for MSU to lose by 6.

donewithdale

That trip out West for an SEC team after playing in the SECT Final is tough and especially tough for a team that relies on outside shooting.

Bingo.

kuhog

Miss St. is getting owned right now. Still 12 minutes to go, but if they don't start hitting the outside shot, they'll lose by 30 or more.
