Five from the SEC are bowl eligible before Halloween. Here is the 2015 SEC Bowl Selection Process: http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2015/0930/Bowl%20Selection%20Process%202015.pdf ...

After the CFP selection process the Citrus Bowl gets the first selection of available SEC Teams.

After the Citrus Bowl selects a team, there will be a pool of six bowls and the  Conference, in consultation with the institutions and the bowls, will make the assignments for these six bowl games from all eligible SEC teams.

Bowls after the Pool of Six: Birmingham Bowl and Independence Bowl

Teams with six wins are eligible for selection to fill any "open bowl spot" outside
the SEC contracted bowls and the two back up bowls.

If 5-7 teams needed for bowls, NCAA & bowls have no idea how they'll be selected http://espn.go.com/blog/ncfnation/post/_/id/120412/pure-confusion-ncaa-schools-bowls-not-sure-how-to-deal-with-5-7-teams ...

QuoteIn most years, the bowl chances for Nebraska (5-6) and Texas (4-6) would appear fairly simple: Both teams need to win out to reach the postseason. However, this year's bowl situation is anything but simple.

With a record 80 FBS teams needed to fill the record 41 bowl games, including the College Football Playoff title game, there is a very real possibility that not enough teams will reach the required six wins to become bowl eligible.

The NCAA established a contingency plan on how to fill all of the bowls if there are not enough bowl-eligible teams. The problem is none of those five tiebreakers (counting wins vs. two FCS opponents, including a 6-7 team, etc.) will impact any of the 5-7 teams.

Bowl and conference sources told ESPN that their understanding of the APR rule is that it's supposed to rank the available 5-7 teams by APR. The NCAA disagrees.

There are currently 62 bowl-eligible teams with 32 teams still able to reach six wins. But since a number of those 32 teams play each other down the stretch or need to pull off huge upsets to reach six wins, multiple 5-7 teams could be needed to fill all the bowls...

Of the teams that are not currently bowl eligible that can reach five-wins, here's how they rank based on the 2013-14 APR data, the most recent available, which will be used by the NCAA:

985 -- Utah State (5-5), Nebraska (5-6)

983 -- Vanderbilt (4-6)

980 -- Boston College (3-7), Rutgers (3-7)

978 -- Georgia Tech (3-7)

977 -- Virginia Tech (5-5), Indiana (4-6), Washington (4-6)

976 -- Missouri (5-5), Kansas State (3-6)

975 -- San Jose State (4-6), South Carolina (3-7)

http://AL.com  All-Access: Would you go watch Auburn in the Birmingham Bowl? Discuss. http://ow.ly/UNYhu

QuoteIf it happens, please let that AAC team be Tommy Tuberville and Cincinnati, for old times' sake.

The SEC order of bowl selection is likely going to be one in the College Football Playoff (Alabama), another in the New Year's Six (Florida), followed by the Citrus Bowl, then the SEC's Pool of Six bowls: Outback, Taxslayer, Music City, Texas, Belk and Liberty.

Then comes the Dec. 30 Birmingham Bowl just ahead of the Independence Bowl.

If Auburn is chosen to return to Legion Field for the first time since the 1998 Iron Bowl, would you go? Would you pay cash money to show up in person to watch the Tigers with an 11 a.m. CT kickoff?

Arkansas, Georgia, LSU and Tennessee could be vying for best bowl standing http://trib.al/SUU8ENi

QuoteWins and losses are just part of the bowl selection process. Fan support and morale is always a big factor. Travel also has to be considered.

Razorbacks seemed about as far removed from a Florida bowl as Antarctica just a few weeks ago. Now, a four-game winning streak has Arkansas looking much more attractive to the bowl selection process. The Razorbacks defeated Auburn and Ole Miss in overtime, then pounded LSU, 31-14. Travel would be a concern for any Florida bowl, which could be enough to keep Arkansas closer to home. However, if Arkansas can close out the season with wins against Mississippi State and Missouri, fan optimism could have them bowling in the Sunshine State.

How the SEC's bowl process works...  http://www.al.com/auburnfootball/index.ssf/2015/11/making_sense_of_auburns_postse.html ...

QuoteSEC introduced a new selection system when the College Football Playoffs debuted last season. The conference champion automatically goes to the Sugar Bowl, unless that team is selected for the College Football Playoffs. In that case, the next highest-ranked team would be sent to the Sugar Bowl. Depending on the final rankings, additional SEC teams could land in the Peach or Fiesta Bowls.

When all of the above is decided, the Citrus Bowl gets the first choice of available teams before the SEC assigns the "Pool of Six" — the Outback Bowl in Tampa, the Music City Bowl in Nashville, the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, the Texas Bowl in Houston and the Belk Bowl in Charlotte. The Birmingham Bowl can then choose among the next available teams, followed by the Advocare V100 Bowl in Shreveport.

College Football Playoff - Bama
Assumptions: Bama whips Auburn and Florida.

Sugar Bowl - Winner of the Egg Bowl (Ole Miss or State)
Assumptions: Florida gets beat and beat royally by Florida State and Bama

Citrus Bowl - Florida
Assumption:  Florida loses final two.  If they beat Florida State they will exchange with the Egg Bowl winner and play in the Sugar Bowl.  If they beat Bama ...

Outback Bowl - Tennessee
Assumption: There is SEC East "inflation" due to geographic advantage of being closer to most of the bowls.  There probably will be and Tennessee will squeeze in here. Factor in that Vol fans are bowl starved. Assumes Vols beat Vandy.

TaxSlayer Bowl - Georgia
Assumption:  See Outback Bowl on SEC East inflation and geographic advantage. Could be the Belk Bowl for UGa, especially if they lose to GaTech.  This one makes geographic sense except. Dawgs have already played in Jacksonville once and lost.

Music City Bowl - Egg Bowl Loser
Assumption:  Assumes Tennessee and Georgia do not fall totally flat allowing Ole Miss - State loser to move into a Florida bowl.

Texas Bowl - A&M - LSU winner

Belk Bowl - LSU - A&M loser
Have run out of SEC East teams to fill the Charlotte slot if "inflation" kicks in.  Georgia or Tennessee could "fall" to here. SEC East (except Tennessee) plays ACC teams at the end of season so the LSU - A&M loser land here. A last-second blocked FG and LSU's collapse have mixed things up and made this one tough to call.

Liberty Bowl - Arkansas
Sets Hogs up with a Big 12 opponent. Could be the best game on TV that day.

Birmingham Bowl - Auburn
Already printing tickets.

Independence Bowl - TBD
If Mizzou beats Arkansas they get first dibs.  If Kentucky beats UofL they call second and that scenario is more probable. Stoops needs a bowl game, any bowl game. Are his players in agreement?  If they dip to 5-7 teams and go by APR, then Vandy needs to beat Tennessee to get into the mix. Other bowl vacancies would pitch to get a 5-7 SEC team if possible.

Will the winner of the Egg Bowl be heading to the Sugar Bowl? http://on.thec-l.com/1OrOplX

QuoteTide are No. 2 and wins against Auburn and No. 12 Florida away from a spot in the College Football Playoff. The Sugar Bowl's deal with the CFP is that if the Southeastern Conference champion is in the top four and headed to the College Football Playoff (this year the Cotton and Orange Bowls), then the team ranked highest from the SEC in the final poll will play in the Sugar.

Right now, that's Florida (10-1, 7-1). But since beating Georgia 27-3 on Oct. 31, Florida has beaten Vanderbilt, South Carolina and Florida Atlantic by a combined 18 points. On Saturday the Gators needed overtime to beat the Owls (2-9), and neither of the SEC wins are against bowl-eligible teams. This week Florida plays No. 13 Florida State at home, before going to the SEC Championship Game against (likely) Alabama. Can anyone else see Florida losing both games? The Gators are just clearly not the same team without quarterback Will Grier (suspended).

Such a situation would surely drop the Gators in the top 25, and that puts the Mississippi teams in position...

Ross Dellenger ‏@DellengerAdv 7h7 hours ago

From @RabalaisAdv, which bowl game is #LSU headed to? Likely one of three options - http://bit.ly/1PenUDR

QuoteJust three weeks ago, LSU was No. 2 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings and was widely penciled in as taking part in one of the two CFP semifinal bowl games: the Cotton or Orange.

Even after back-to-back losses to Alabama and Arkansas, LSU still had a legitimate shot to make it to the Allstate Sugar Bowl...

If the Tigers finish 8-3, LSU could still potentially be playing Jan. 1 in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida, despite their recent swoon and the fact they could be playing under an interim head coach.

Despite their numbing November, the Tigers would still be an attractive bowl team because of Leonard Fournette. His Heisman Trophy candidacy appears to have taken a mortal hit during LSU's losing streak, but he still leads the nation in rushing and is still a big name in college football.

LSU's first trip to the Citrus Bowl since 2009 is still a long shot and likely predicated on several external factors...

More likely is a trip to one of the SEC's so-called "Pool of Six" bowls. SEC office will pick the Pool of Six bowl teams.

That leaves the Texas, TaxSlayer and Liberty as probable destinations for LSU. LSU hasn't played there since the 1987 Gator Bowl.

LSU athletic director Joe Alleva and TaxSlayer Bowl CEO Rick Catlett are long-time friends, and their friendship could lead the bowl to lobby for the Tigers.
