Probably close to a coin flip. Jeff Sagarin's predictor has us at 40%. Should be the only home game the rest of the year that we aren't the favorite.

You can't have half holes or partial holes because all holes are whole holes.

It's at home if there is a good crowd I think.we have a real good shot .. they are a good ball club but not like crazy unbeatable good

Hogs win unless they just have a really bad shooting night.

The crowd will be bigger, but have about 25% of the energy it used to have, making it almost no factor.  Just the fact that they're on a court they're used to is the only home-court difference these days.  Hogs play tough, but lack of energy in the environment and a few key bobbles render this a 3 point loss.  If they can win...it...will ...be #$@#%&g sweeeeet!

Danny J

50/50...too many variables. Best team we have faced by far.

FineAsSwine

Moses has to win the battle with Egbunu. if not then the Hogs better be on fire from three or else its going to be a long night.

Pigasaurus

I think we win at home.  If we were in Gainesville we would give up a world record number of layups and 3's.  And get packed and poked by a last minute ref call.

JIHawg

I think we suffer shell shock, get screwed by the refs, and lose by 10 to 20.

The first SEC game is always one of the hardest.  The JC boys are in for a shock.  The refs always take Florida's side over us.  Kejon or whatever his name is will come loaded for bear.  We will be tight and shoot about 25%.  We won't be able to hit anything.  Moses will get in foul trouble.

What else can go wrong?

311Hog

I think we win at home. start off strong in conference.

Barford can throw a few away into the stands, although he'll likely make a few killer freelance plays.  Hopefully, we're completely wrong and the exact opposite of all this happens (except for Barford making killer plays).  I'll say this, the players have had this sucker circled on their calendar for months, so it's a matter of how they respond to a game they've been so anxious to get underway....does it make them rise to the occasion or wilt under the pressure?

of the JC guys I have been most impressed with Macon.  Barford seems like he wont get it until next season almost Sonny Weems ish.

Unfortunately, I believe you will be correct.  Seems like everytime I get my hopes up for
A good win, we get our butts handed to us.  I'll say Florida by 18 and it's never close.  Very similar to Minnesota game.

gmarv

the old bud walton magic is still alive hogs by 20.

jdunhog

If the bud is rocking this will be the hogs!!

cableguy

I say we win by 8 points. JC guys are importent but they don't have to play good for us to win.  We got CJ Jones, Beard and Hannah that can come in and play well. We have a bench that we depend on to win!

PORKULATOR

We're probably more talented than them. Except for Egbunu (? Is that right?)lol

If Kingsley plays good solid defense, block shots, rebound, and get your occasional steal we'll win. Him scoring 10 will be a plus. We have plenty of scorers on this team. Although if we play inside out through him we'll be even better. He doesn't have to score just draw the double team and kick it out to the shooters for open three's.

I think we this game at the free throw line.

lefty08

Many people seem to think if we can treat Florida then we can't beat Tennessee, not sure that's relevant

Also, starting 0-3 in the conference isn't ideal, but there will be 15 more conference games to go, and the back half appears to be much easier as it stands right now

We win Thursday. Its time we play Fla hard and handle them comfortable for once.
We get a lead with 8 to go and we won't look back.

This.

That's all good, but Florida is better at center than we are, I doubt Kingsley sees many double teams

Florida back up center is equal or better than Kingsley. Hopefully the big man that destroyed Kingsley last season is injured. He didn't play their last game against UALR.

This is kind of a longer layoff, comes after the holidays, and is against a team with a couple of talented guards seeing the floor.

I think the 40% call is probably fair.   If we shoot well, or they play poorly, our chances naturally increase.

It'd be good comeuppance after it's what cost us a game against them at home in the 2013-14 season.

that's a real possibility.. they would still finish with 10 wins in conference... this is a big game for the Hogs and one of a few, along with some road games, that will determine if it's 9-10 wins or 12-14, in conference... :razorback:

gmarv

winning this game against Fla. could be the difference between 9-0 or 8-1 at home.so yeah it is a big one.

We've opened up conference play on the road most years recently. I don't think we will be as shell shocked or jipped by the refs at home.

Florida last played on the 21st so the layoff effect should be about the same.

Their style of ball isn't as dependent on continuity and rhythm to work.   There is a reason why we have terrible records off of long breaks.     Could they be bad off the layoff?  Sure.  Are they as likely to look bad off a layoff?  No.

having a big name opponent at home will factor in positively IMO.

I'm at 50/50 on this one. Almost leaning Florida but I know the Hogs can win this one going away if they come out firing on all cylinders. If this game were mid-conference season I would give the Hogs a 75% chance at a win but this team is still gelling and I think that process won't be complete for a little while longer. Players like Barford and Kingsley will look better and better as the year goes on but there will continue to be stretches of erratic play for a while.

I've been underwhelmed by home attendance all year;  while part of the problem at times,  I've always made sure that someone had the seats that would go to the game.   I don't expect a good turnout, as our fans have long since stopped caring about basketball, good  or otherwise.

Even if the crowd is under 10,000 if they are loud and on their feet it will give the team a boost. Need an active and boisterous crowd.
