In case you didn't see it, Blake Griffin jumped over a car to win the slam dunk with a choir singing "I Believe I Can Fly" in the background.

There was also a guy that dunked 3 balls.

Yeah, that's normal procedure.

I thought the guy dunking the three balls had the best dunk.  That's got to be incredibly hard.

Still, it takes balls if you're a rookie to bring out a car and a singing choir and try a dunk like that.

That guy obviously played for Pel. He is an overachiever.

McGee was the better overall dunker. I thought the dunk on two goals was freaking amazing. I think he said Ibaka took his dunk in the first round. Griffin was destined to win it with fan votes though.

The car dunk was all hype, and that is why he won it. If you watch it closely, he took off from the middle of the lane, and once he grabbed the rim he kind of pulled himself over the car. It wasn't that impressive of a dunk considering he jumped over the smallest part of the car that is about the same size as a ball rack. He had some pretty amazing dunks, but that one wasn't  one of them. Kenny Smith was just hyping him so much that there was no way the fans weren't voting for him.

In my opinion, 3 of McGee's dunks, Ibaka's dunk, and Derozan's dunk were all better than Blake's last dunk.

HogBreath

Big deal...I'm not impressed at all...Pel jumped over a freakin colossal wounded, bleedin warrior getting outta Christian Laetnner's way in that Duke game!

Ibaka actually jumped from the FT line.  Not what Dr. J and MJ did with one foot over the line, but from the Line.  His big toe touched the FT line and he flew.  Ibaka actually did the classic justice.

But McGee's 2 goal dunk was sick.  I also enjoyed DeRozan's up and under cuff dunk from the lob.  It was good to see the dunk contest be about showmanship again.

I thought the Derozan one handed dunk was the best of the night. Griffin dunking over the car was all show, the actual dunk was lame.

I agree, that and the one where he dunked on two different goals were the best dunks.

The car one was more flash than substance. Griffin's elbow dunk and the first 360 dunk he did were both solid though.

I pretty much agree with that assessment.  My favorite of the night was the two goal dunk.  I also liked Ibaka grabbing the monkey off the rim with his teeth while dunking.  It was very creative and I'm sure required a lot of foucs.

Agreed.  McGee's 2 goals was a close second.  It would have been first IMO if he had done it on the first or second try.

Ibaka is one of the most underrated guys in the league right now;  it's a great thing to see him with a performance like tonight to help get his name out there.

No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

McGee should have won.

That dunk where he dunked on two goals was very nice.  Three balls in one jump was also awesome.

Griffin's car dunk wasn't that impressive, but the presentation was too energetic for him not to win.

I am a huge Thunder fan and have been following his development.  As we saw tonight, he has near unlimited athletic ability.  He also has incredible desire to succeed.  Both his parents were B-ball players.  He has played b-ball for a long time, but has only had the structure of "American" basketball, whether NBA or NCAA for a few years.  According to nba.com and the Hog b-ball site.....Ibaka is younger than Rotnei C. :o

He's an amazing athlete, and his athleticism is hard to match anywhere around the league.

Bill Simmons recently summed it up, when rating Ibaka as one of the 50 most valuable guys, in terms of what they'd bring on the trade market:

"...think about the fact that he's only 21 ... then remember that, by the time he turned 20, he had already survived a violent civil war in the Congo, been separated from his 18 siblings, survived on his own in Spain and Oklahoma City, learned his third and fourth languages and morphed into a playoff contender's key shot-blocker/rebounder despite the fact that he started playing organized basketball only five years ago."

Ibaka did play club level basketball prior to that, but it's not quite the same as an AAU guy or a guy who had regular HS competition.   Clarke is 58 days older than Ibaka.

No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. Yeah, I was extremely underwelmed with Blake Griffin.. Had he made his VERY FIRST dunk attempt, it may have been the craziest thing ever.. After that though, a simple 360, a windmill, a vince carter remix, and an easy dunk over a tiny car.. Nate Robinson jumped over spud webb.. He's 5'7''.. That car was what?? 3 feet??

Derozan's up and under was the best dunk of the night. He was the most consistent as well.. None of this try it 15 times before you make it.. Like Vince, he got it the first time, every time.. I still am yet to see a better dunk contest than the 2000 show Vince Carter put on.. IMO he's easily the best dunker ever..

Actually you and the TNT announcers need to be corrected. Here is Jordan in his rookie season at the 1985 dunk contest taking off from behind the free throw line. When the TNT announcers said that I knew that they were wrong. They suck. And Jordan is the best in game dunker also. I recorded every Jordan game he ever played in.  Get your facts straight.    Here is your proof.   .

The Griffin dunk with the guy's face is his crotch has to be one of the best in game dunks ever.

The next play after the dunk, Stoudamire from the Knicks got fouled at the other end.  When he was on the free throw line before his shot, he stopped just long enough to get Griffin's attention.  When he did, he smiled and gave him a knowing nod.

I'll see if I can find the video....

Dude was being pushed away from the goal and still threw it down.  It was most definitely a dunk.  #2 on my list, behind the Vinsanity dunk in the Olympics.  Both were sick and will be shown as long as basketball is played.
