Jump Ball / Re: 30 for 30: Calipari

Quote from: bphi11ips on Today at 02:22:17 pmMarcus Camby was a man among boys at Umass.  Maybe that's where Cal's rep with Centers began.  Positionless basketball aside, you can build a team around a dominant Center. But it's the dribble drive, rotation offense that he seems to be best known for.  Makes you wonder whether Battle might have worked in it, but his style of dribble drive isn't Cal's style.  His teams create space with great players everywhere.

Never been a big fan of "30 on 30", but that's one I'll watch soon.

I loved watching Camby at UMASS and in the NBA. I was pretty young when he was in college, but I watched so much basketball and baseball on tv at that age. 1993-2001 ~ is the era that I remember the most about in sports, as a fan.

Quote from: Dave-Van-car-Horn on Yesterday at 09:55:02 pmI was there in Fayetteville sitting beside the fans from USC. Cocky group! The loudest I heard the stadium that night was when Nutt finally put Mitch in and him and Williams hooked up for that last TD.

I was in the student section - I'd gotten to the game late and had to sit in the NEZ upper deck.

I remember staying until the end of the game, mainly to see if Mitch would enter the game.

Had a great Birds Eye view of that drive.

Somehow that's actually a good memory, despite getting our ass handed to us.

Not to minimize the pollution impacts, but I doubt Tysons is shaking in their shoes over an article in the Daily Mail.

Tyson essentially controls a significant percentage of the total food supply for the country. That's one hell of a trump card--as we found out when everything was shutting down for Covid.

Govt: "You have to shut down."
Tysons: "Okay. No problem, but you realize that means no more bacon?"
Govt: "Well, let's not be all hasty. I'm sure we can work something out."

Quote from: 12247 on Today at 09:15:25 pmWhat most of us believe is that we lost a game or maybe 2 this weekend that our team should have been good enough to win.  I don't care if its for none or all the marbles, should we have won?  We have mostly a pitiful hitting group.  Not only do we not overall hit well, we certainly do not hit usually with RISP.  We made a few high school mistakes like swinging on 3-1 count when you know you are one of the problems at the plate. Maybe instead of coach having ideas about who plays where and when, I would really appreciate it if he would sit down with his batting coach and those 2 come up with ideas worthy of some new lesson plans for all our hitters.  If Moms and Dads are sending their player children to school and likely paying for some of their college, they are not getting their moneys worth from the instructors cause most of their Kids are failing at their understanding of offense 101, how to approach it, when to take, swing, think the offense through. There is around 10,000 ideas of what ails our Baseball team here on Hogville.  We have overall great pitching.  Yep we do have a failure or 2 in the pitching and we are failing too often on defense for a championship team but our hitting is really not college level.  I say, look at the stats in general and against the rest of the SEC.  Don't take my word, I am just a poster who knows nothing so look at the facts.  The facts are we stink when considered against just teams who are our peers get matched up against us. Our players are better students than that.  Come on coaches, give these Guys a lesson plan that brings out the talent these scholarship students are supposed to have earned.

Yet we are 17-7 in conference, and tied for second in the league with the new number 1 team in the country. We have won 40 games and lost less than 10.

We can all gripe about the offense. And yes, it has disappointed in SEC play, but we have to keep some perspective when evaluating our coaching staff and their methods.

I choose to see a team whose record has outpaced the individual performances of its players, and most of the time, when that happens, it is because of coaching.

I don't know who the Hogs are going after now but, the big bangers are going to other schools. I know a lot of people wanted to see a big powerful guy commit. List is getting shorter each day. Bama will be tough again next year.

Wishing the best for Khalif next year and hope he blows up at Gonzaga.  Wish he could have found a role for the Razorbacks next year, but will be rooting for him and the Zags.....  until tournament time....

Well, that kinda stings, although I hadn't seen much to believe that he would end up a Razorback.   Like most, simply ready to have a good feel of what our roster will be next year sooner rather than later.  Patience is a virtue however and I solidly believe we will fill these last scholarships with players that will help achieve the goals for 2024-25

Chiles believes helmet communication is 'easier'

by: Kaiden Smith

would know

QuoteMichigan State quarterback Aidan Chiles is the new kid on the block in East Lansing, joining the Spartans this offseason through the transfer portal alongside new head coach Jonathan Smith from Oregon State.

But along with adjusting to a new program, Chiles also has to adapt to one of the new big changes across the entire college football landscape. The use of coach-to-player helmet communication.

Teams have been using the new technology for the first time during spring practices this year:

"It's a love-hate relationship between that man," Chiles admitted. "I'm used to signals. See the signal, if you get the signal wrong, that's on you. It is what it is. Sometimes you don't get the full call but we're working with it. It's easier not having a coach on the field being able to give you signals and everything, but also that he can't hear me."

This upcoming college football season will be the first ever where speakers will be used in the helmets of players for coaches to communicate play calls. With one player on offense and defense sporting a green dot helmet sticker similar to the NFL and serving as the middleman between the playcaller and the rest.
