Anyone noticed how the Beyer numbers have gotten slower as the races have gotten longer? I know BSF aren't everything but it's an interesting trend among some of the "leading contenders." There are a few who have won a prep as well as improved their number going longer: Gemologist, Alpha (Didn't win the Wood but improved his BSF), Prospective (Improved second time at 8.5) to list a few

I'll have Another- 96 at 8.5, 94 at 9
El Padrino - 100/98 at 8.5, 90 at 9
Creative Cause - 102 at 8.5, 94 at 9
Union Rags - 95 at 8.5, 93 at 9
Secret Circle - 102 at 8, 92 at 8.5
Mark Valeski - 98 at 8.5, 89 at 9
Take Charge Indy - 96 at 8.5, 95 at 9

Thoughts? Or reasons perhaps?

my main issue with  BSF's is that beyer hates the west cost. tell me the last time you have seen a west coast horse have a super good beyer. lol game on dude had a 85 beyer going into the breeder cup classic in his win in the good wood. zenyatta i don't think cracked a 100 beyer all year long in 2010 but in the classic she pulls a 111 out of her ass when she loses to blame? get real. beyers in big races when dealing with the west cost you might as well toss them out they are useless.  i don't know what agenda he has against west coast horses but it's ovbious if you pay attention

my thought is that the derby is a 2 horse race as of now between creative cause and i'll have another.  by my numbers i'll have a nother ran a 103 beyer not a 94.  beyer adjusts his speed figures too much for speed variants.

the betting will be very even this year but IMHO it's a 2 horse race.  i don't see another horse that can get the distance and handle dirt.
