If the kid continues down this road habitually at Auburn ... not good for him.  But one PI shouldn't set off anyone's alarm in a college town, imho.  Heck, if we had to live in Auburn, we'd probably get a PI or two, too!

Chizik won me over when he first came to Auburn and required all the players to move their meth labs off campus. Players rebelled against his toughest but it was the right thing to do.

Problem is the Cheezwiz didn't also require them to move all their stolen stashes as well. Between (S)Cam and the "trailer park bandittos" they've accumulated quite a nice pile of "pocket" change.

This was not Pike's first off-the-field issue, said someone familiar with the situation. Auburn officials did not address his status Monday.

Pike was an early commitment for Auburn's 2012 signing class. At the last moment, Auburn signed another quarterback, Jonathan Wallace,   from Central High School in Phenix City.

Pike missed Dixie Heights' season opener due to a suspension for undisclosed reasons, and he was also suspended for his team's first-round playoff game, although Dixie Heights officials refused to give a reason for Pike's absence.

Auburn doesn't need any more of Zeke Pike's aggravation right now

The last thing Auburn needs right now is a player acting as if being bad is a good thing.

It's not.

One player from Auburn's 2010 BCS Championship roster, Antonio Goodwin, already has been sentenced to 15 years in jail for armed robbery, and three more -- Mike McNeil, Shaun Kitchens and Dakota Mosley -- await their trials on charges from the same incident.

On the night in question, according to testimony from Goodwin's trial, they carried a gun belonging to Mike Dyer, the MVP of that championship victory over Oregon. Dyer, who also testified that he consistently used synthetic marijuana while at Auburn, is now at Arkansas State.

If the only back in Auburn history to rush for more than 1,000 yards as both a freshman and a sophomore was expendable, so is an unproven freshman quarterback who's yet to take a snap beyond the spring game.

Before patting Gene Chizik on the back for (choose one) sending Pike home or allowing him to go home, a question seems in order. Given what we knew about Pike before he got to Auburn, why did Chizik sign him in the first place?

How does one get arrested for public intoxication in Auburn, a town that's three blocks long and all but designed to fumble tipsy students back to campus? (Things roll uphill in Auburn: drunk students, Gene Chizik's career, etc.) Furthermore, how the hell does a football player get arrested for public intox in a a town that doubles as a tax dodge for skullduggerous logging magnates and football factory? And why on earth did the energetic Lee County prosecutors not add a public insurrection and treason charge to Pike's tally? When will we rally to the challenge posed by so-called "Americans" restricting the rights of those who wish to trod tipsily upon this fine land of ours as they like? WHEN, WE ASK?
