IMO one of the best quotes from Alan Greenspan, when asked about the future of S. S. he said that the Fed
"can guarantee cash benefits as far out and whatever size you like, but we cannot guarantee their purchasing power."

Maybe his conscience was starting to bother him.   A rare, brief bankster brush up against the truth in this 1 minute clip for anyone that wanted to listen in 2005.  Unfortunately I was still asleep at that time, or I would be much farther along today.
